Show Me Comfort Characters

For many years I have used characters as a way to cope. I didn't grow up with many friends so I made my own. I know how it feels to have a character that means so much to you that you can't even explain how or why. I love seeing characters that I know someone else finds comfort in. Even though I don't know the character or may not even like the design personally just knowing how important that character is to someone brings me joy.

What character gives you comfort to write, draw or use in anyway?

Snow Shoe makes me feel safe and secure. I use him to help ward away fears and stresses, especially so at night when my mind goes wild and something as simple as a shadow will frighten me. I have a plushie of him so he can feel more physical and real. Ink is another character I use to help with stress. Don't know why, but drawing him does tend to help more so than other characters.

Hail has ALWAYS been a comfort character since I saw her up for adoption for a group! I didn't realize how much I just enjoyed having her around... But with her new name, she's back in the revamp of the group she was originally in and I'm so freaking happy! I can't wait to use her more and ah!!

(i also have a few more comfort characters for various reasons. either they fit a palette, they're named after a childhood place, or they're the first for a closed species. either way, they all tie back to me somehow.)

I have quite a few comfort characters tbh. I get stressed a lot and so I like to have little characters to doodle to comfort me.

Avery is one!! I created them after having a really bad day, not originally intending to keep the design. but they helped me a lot and so I ended up keeping them

Clyde and Beep are two others!!! they were both just doodle characters but I fell in love with them. they're both really comforting to draw, especially since they're so simple. I love these little dudes a lot ;w;

finally, my biggest comfort character is Puppy!! he's my irl stuffed puppy who I've had since I was born and he is my entire world. he holds the most importance to me because he is not only a character, but an actual object that I have personal memories with. he's been with me all my life and has seen me in my worst times as well as my best. I don't know what I'd do without him

Lucius Siyvee

I have my Lucius! He helps me when I'm overwhelmed, in public and about to panic or just feeling like everything is too much. I like imagining him trying to fit in different spaces or just sitting/floating somewhere. Helps me take my mind off things ♥

I use Sam to cope with a lot of childhood trauma, and my own personal feelings of creative stagnation and other things, such as confusion about my gender identity and sexuality.

Also just. Such a warm character, they make me feel like I'm standing in a sunflower field.

hokkaiido

wren provides a lot of comfort to me. i do struggle a lot with mental health issues, so he helps me a lot whenever i draw him. whether it's vent art or not, he still really helps me!!

other than wren, oliver also provides me lots of comfort whenever i roleplay as him or even draw him. he also struggles with anxiety, just like i do, and he also has this warm and soft temperament. just a simple vent or doodle of him really provides lots of comfort to him. it's kind of like he's giving me a big warm hug.

Cyrus Bell Caine

I wouldn't say he's really a character I use to cope or anything but working on him always makes me feel very cozy! He's one of the most relaxing characters for me to write because on one hand it's relaxing to write characters with poor brain-to-mouth filter at times BUT without him being actually mean or anything? Writing objectively "good" characters feels stress-free for me when I don't need to think about their schemes, and being in the headspace of a character who tends to blurt things out is also sort of fun/relaxing because I can just. type what he's thinking without any facades or pretense.

Also he's super super fun to draw I love drawing characters with lots of round shapes

my main comfort charas are silver, specifically her vent and lovestruck forms, silver glaceon, and kurokku, since theyre ventsonas. also bubble because shes based on....a very special person. multi, fluffy, sparkle and fleece are also super important to me. multi feels super personal to me, fluffy helped me through a really hard time (hopefully that doesnt sound weird), and fleece and sparkle kinda helped me figure out who i am (that sounds weirder i am sorry)

I guess mentally he’s some sort of protector, and I use him to vent if I’m pretty upset (but I also just love him for the murderous nasty man he is)

Wenlock⭐ milgram

wenlock for sure. partially because multiple people have told me he has given them comfort over the years too. i really think he is a good personification of love of life and the absurd despite existential pain
