Lazzaro Galletti
#1b7a5f
You probably know me already, but I'll introduce myself. Lazzaro Galletti of the Lammergeier Syndicate. I'll spare the small talk and get right to brass tacks. What is it you need?
Lazzaro Galletti is the current Godfather of the Lammergeier Syndicate. He inherited the role from his father, the former Godfather of the same syndicate, working as his Capo Bastone (underboss) until he eventually passed. He's a first generation American, being born in Italy/Sicily and immigrating to the US to follow his father. In order to expand the syndicate's reach, they decided to take further roots in New York City, where they're currently located. He inherited the title when he was 27 years old.
Lazzaro heavily bases how he runs his syndicate off of his rigid morals, most of them learned from his father. Gone are the usual rules of a mafia such as an Italian bloodline and heritage for those who join, and in are the rules of recruiting anyone who fits the job, no matter their race or ethnicity. Though he can't actually call his syndicate a mafia for that reason. He's a staunch believer in helping those who need it-- most of his personally picked recruits are from unfortunate situations where they had nowhere else to go. One can call it a savior complex, or worse implications. He prefers to think of it as helping people the same as his father did for decades. He prides himself on tradition and family, and in a way his recruits are an extension of that.
He appears warm-hearted and likes to entertain those he considers friends, acquaintances, and even those he just met. He doesn't like getting on someone's bad side, and does what he can to avoid making new enemies. He says he already has enough as is, and doesn't want to cause more trouble than what it's worth. Business meetings are more like a family gathering with alcohol and Italian food, courtesy of his wife, Rosa. It might be to soften the blow of things eventually going awry, or it may just be his attitude when conducting important matters. Valentine is one of the few people to openly say he feels off around him, and how Aurelio seems to completely change his disposition when he's nearby. Though of course, Lazzaro doesn't know that. He demands respect of others and doesn't take lightly to those who snap at him, Valentine included, so Aurelio has made sure that he behaves accordingly around him. Most others generally take a liking to him and his loud, showman-type personality. It seems the only people that are uncomfortable with him have been alone with him rather than only in a group setting.
His hands are covered in burn scars, the flesh melted and mangled. He often takes off his gloves in order to show recruits and other members who're unaware as a scare tactic to not make a slip in judgement. He's never opened up about how it happened to him, but he states it was from a "mistake". It's insinuated that they got into contact with sulfuric acid. Because of his hands, he and others in his syndicate are to wear gloves. Not only does it provide tactical advantages, it's also to discreetly hide his own insecurities. His wife is exempt from this, of course. He expects everyone to cover up around him, and when they're not, they get a stern talking to. He still has some sense of feeling in his hands and is able to use them, with most of the damage done to the skin, but he still has nerve damage issues. He can struggle with smaller things, but he's learned to adjust to the lack of feeling and has others to do the finer details for him. He's a perfectionist to a negative degree, and easily gets agitated and self-deprecating if his efforts doesn't meet his own standards.
He has Hypermobile Ehler's Danlos Syndrome, a genetic chronic illness. He uses a cane to help with mobility. It comes with multiple complications, such as joint subluxation and dislocation, but overall it doesn't make him less of a powerful man in terms of resources and connections. Things that are outside of his capability are handled by one of many people who opt to help. Though most times, it seems that he's perfectly capable of living normally and calls himself "frail" for dubious reasons. And in times he actually is physically fragile, he prefers for no one to witness him in a weakened state. Due to his chronic illness, his body is built more "strange" looking compared to people without it, including his hands even when gloved. He also has Thalassemia Beta, a form of anemia common to those of Mediterranean descent. He's mostly more exhausted than usual when it's symptomatic, and he regularly needs iron and blood transfusions to have his iron ferritin at normal levels.
One of the Lammergeier Syndicate's primary fencing operations has to do with getting expensive medical goods like medication at a much lower price, which was put into action soon after inheriting his position as Godfather. It can be blamed on Lazzaro's empathy for other sickly people. No one really loses in these cases besides the corporations losing profits and maybe the jobs of the cargo drivers. He of course still charges... Just not as much as a pharmaceutical company does. It may be a deflector for when questioned if they do anything for the good of the people, but it's also just Lazzaro's strict morals being enforced.
Lazzaro keeps a pet Lammergeier, or Bearded Vulture by his side. Her name is Bambi, short for "Bambino", and it heavily shows through how he treats her. His son Santino is terrified of birds due to general Italian superstitions, but he's not once listened to his request of keeping it away from him so he can talk to his father. Lazzaro doesn't really grasp why he hates his bird and keeps her around anyways. He got her as soon as she hatched, making sure that she imprints on him and humans alike. She's gentle and "friendly" by bird standards, and even though he treats her like his baby, it works as an intimidation tactic. Vultures generally don't harm people unless threatened, but the allure of the sharp beak and striking eyes are enough if not for the sheer size of them. He especially likes that Lammergeiers eat bones, of all things. If someone were to "mysteriously" lose a hand, he'd spend time feeding small fragments of bone to her while locked away in his office.
DISCLAIMER: He's my most morally reprehensible character and exists to be a villain. Standard "I do not condone the actions of my characters or what they represent" applies especially here. (There isn't a lot of it due to omitting spoilers and major plot points.)

OTHER
- He speaks Italian and English. He still has an Italian accent, even if he's spent most of his life in the US at this point.
- He has heterochromia. His left eye is more teal colored, and his right a peridot green. It's subtle and easier to see when close.
- He's nearsighted.
- He named his son Santino based off of a character in The Godfather, despite the unfortunate happenings to him in said movie.
- Camilo's nickname for him is "Lazzy". He doesn't mind being called it, since it's from Camilo in particular.
- He's superstitious despite doing multiple things seen as bad luck/omens. To combat that, he has luck charms on him at all times-- cornicello, mano cornuto, and malocchio are his usual worn ones.
- He's allergic to oranges.
- The ring he wears on his left pinky is an inheritance from his father. He refuses to take it off. It's probably his most prized possession.
- He absolutely refuses to "baby talk" to his vulture.
- He's married, and met his wife during physical therapy sessions after his hand injuries. She was one of the nurses who he'd regularly see, and he eventually fell for her. He would routinely attend sessions just as a way to see her.
- He's aware that "Bambino" is a male/gender-neutral name for his female bird, but since he didn't know the sex of his bird until she was grown, he decided to keep the name.
You should go talk to other people here instead of boring old me. I'm not sure what more I can offer for you, but I'm here if you have any further questions.
[ Wife ]
"I don't know what I'd ever do without you. You know that? I'd be a lost cause if you weren't here with me."
The woman he lives for. The woman he'd die for.
[ Son ]
"You never want to spend any time with me. God forbid I want father-son bonding time. What if I gave you a little incentive to do so?"
Soon to be Godfather. If only he would spend more time with him before he takes the role.
[ Consigliere ]
"I can trust you with anything, Aurelio. That’s something that’s hard to come by. The willingness to stay by anyone’s side."
The perfect consigliere.
[ Caporegime ]
"I appreciate the gift, but I don't think I can walk around wearing the equivalent of sweatpants around other businessmen..."
A good man. Eccentric and misunderstood.
[ Aurelio's apprentice ]
"You two are so close. I take it Aurelio is being a good mentor?"
Disobedient and disruptive. Capricious. Good at his job.
