Personality

Roe is a small creature with an equally small demeanor. She is very timid and quietly spoken, to the point where the professors thought she was mute for the first year of her attendance. Because of this, she's often overlooked and forgotten about. There are more prominent and overbearing personalities inside The Order that require more attention from the elders than her. In some ways, the professors wrote Roe off as a lost cause. Her skillset shows great potential but, currently, she isn't showing any signs of being able to break through to them. They tried and tried for years with her in the beginning but they got tired of chasing her every time she ran away to hide, despite the fact that there was only ever one place Roe went to seek comfort - the library. Here, she gorged on all the knowledge she could take in. Maybe one of these books would help her find the answer she was looking for. Maybe all her questions were unanswerable.

One thing that nobody knows about Roe is that she is so easily frustrated (mainly towards herself). It's why she reads and reads and reads. Druidic magic has the potential to be one of the most powerful forms of magic. Yet, all she can do is cause a small plant to grow to its full capacity within a few seconds and create a puddle on the floor. It's why she began to run away from training. Every failed attempt drew her closer and closer to the verge of tears. Both of her parents were successful within The Order with her father still holding a high ranking amongst mages. It was the reason that they left Namarast to be stationed elsewhere. Maybe it was the reason why her family hadn't spoken to her for 2 years. She was a shame to the family name. Shame was often on Roe's mind, so much so that Roe actually dropped the family name to prevent any more guilt being felt. Outside of The Order, nobody knew who she was or who she belonged to. She was simply Roe. Forgettable Roe.

History

Roe has lived a very sheltered life thus far. She has spent her entire childhood within The Order. Her family were all Order Mages and it was only right that she was also sent there to achieve her full potential (if we forget the illegality of her learning anywhere else). Despite the minor fact that her parents would probably have ended up imprisoned if they hadn't sent her, Roe was convinced that they just wanted her out of their lives. When she was younger, she used to get 1 letter every 3-4 months. A formality, she was sure. After her 20th birthday and with the promotion of apprenctice, the letters stopped. She was now an adult and could fend for herself (not that she hadn't been doing that anyway). Not once had they visited. Not once had she been home. They hadn't even cared enough to attend her graduation.

Regardless, Roe didn't particularly care that her parents had abandoned her here. Rather here than on the streets or on someone else's doorstep. Here, she had books! Lots and lots of books. Her studies were relentless with the constant magic practice sessions which took their toll on her each and every time. It was exhausting and the professors became very annoyed very quickly by her lack of progression due to the fact that she simply couldn't practice every day. Scared, Roe took shelter in the library most days. It was huge. Cavernous. Plenty of secret reading nooks for her to hide within. There's something about a book that invites you in - the cool leather that had been carefully stretched and sown as the cover; each page feeling unique as it had been flattened by the hands of many ancestors; the distinct mark of every person who had ever touched it whether that be a droplet of coffee or a slight folded corner. The whole library vibrated with every story ever told inside its walls, waiting to be eaten up by eager readers. Roe had her favourites but she loved exploring, delving into each one with an open mind. This place was her safe haven. There were no angry professors shouting at her that she couldn't produce more than 2 flowers or disappointed wardens when she was asked to remake the bed yet again to proper etiqutte standards.

All this knowledge might have made Roe book smart but she could never be street smart. The last (and only) time she had left the confines of The Order, it was for a supervised trip to the very edge of Namarast to see if her abilities were any different outside of a classroom setting. They were not and the professor marched her back rather grumpily. She knew nothing about the city she lived in, let alone anything that was beyond it. Of course, Roe had read about it. She had followed the adventures of many of the authors within the library and desperately yearned to experience what they had. But, of course, these books were written many moons ago and the world had, assumingly, moved ahead and advanced since Dr. Pickleolt had battled through The Sunless Jungle and waded across The Whispering Sea. Maybe, one day, she will get to leave The Order and go exploring!

Druidic Magic

Power 8

Discipline 7

Cost 0

Corruption 0

Druidic magic relates to nature and the natural hum of life, relating to the animals, trees and other flora that grows wild in the caster's surroundings.

At full capacity, the caster will be able to communicate freely with any wild animal and bend nature to their will. However, caution must be taken as those who disrupt the fine balance of the wilderness by abusing/exploiting the gifts they were given will become corrupted.

For Roe, this transpires as the following:

  • With 8 power stats - Can understand all animals clearly, accelerate the growth of plants to their natural bloomed size/form, create small bogs, has begun to learn how to animate plants and can animate multiple tree roots to do her bidding for a small amount of time. She has also started enhancing her skills in potion making, starting with a small vial that can heal the tinest of cuts (like a paper cut/graze).
  • With 7 discipline stats - the bogs last for a short while before drying up and flowers will live double their natural lifespan. With extra discipline, she can continue to improve the length of effect of her magic. She can animate a full tree younger than 50 years old for a maximum of half an hour. It will die once it has been uprooted, however. She has now begun testing her magic on other aspects of nature but this is unstable and usually unsuccessful with her lack of power but practice makes perfect!
  • With 0 cost stats - Roe now has no effects from her magic that leave her incapacitated in any way.

Alongside her magical ability, it has allowed her to grow her knowledge of all things green! Whenever she has a free moment, she constantly has her nose in a book about something to do with plants whether that be the poisonous aspects of some or the healing properties of others or even which ones you can make into tea. One day, her magical abilities will allow her to use this knowledge to help and heal those around her. For now, it is purely just academic knowledge.
