Þish was born in the desert, but not raised there. They were one of the few who were lucky enough to escape it. However, they were never really able to truly give it up. They saw how desperate their people were. They saw an opportunity. It was nearly impossible to get goods transported to the desert on a regular basis. So they took it into their own hands. 

Þish acquired a sand-sailor, a boat that could sail on the sand, so they could learn how to better traverse the desert. With this new skill, they became a saleperson, travelling the desert and its outskirts. They bring goods into the desert that are needed and sells them for an inflated price. They also warn any travellers of the treacherousness of the desert when they come too near, hoping to keep the desert forever isolated, for business and profit.
