About

Appearance

Aechor stands at 10 feet tall. He is a dark forest green with thorn-like markings of blueish black and metallic gold. He is broad and well-muscled, though over the years those muscles have softened from a lack of intense combat and training.

He is missing his right arm, and a dark scar mars the skin of his right side, remnants of the same harsh blow that severed his limb.

He tends to dress in clothes which do not restrict his range of motion, in shades of black, white, gold, and blues. The clothing appears regal–or at least ceremonial–when practicality is not absolutely demanded. He always carries his sword, Ambrose, at his hip, the one last remnant of his time fighting for Heaven and of his mentor Esthur.

Personality

During his time as a soldier of Lord Qi, Aechor was headstrong with a good heart. He devoted everything within himself to his cause, and loved those around him with abandon. Though he was quick to anger, he was also quick to forgive when reason was given.

While wandering Orth, a loneliness settled over him which stifled this emotional freedom. He became more withdrawn, sadder and quieter, slower in his movements, as he wandered. But through his friendships with people of other species, over the years he emerged somewhat from this mental state and into a renewed state of happiness. He gained a great respect for the quiet and for the beauty of the world, and remained quieter than in his time as a soldier, but he regained his joy and open laughter.

Upon reuniting with other daitens, he found others who could understand his pain at losing Heaven and all those he loved. Though outwardly he appears much the same as before, inside he feels himself beginning to heal even those old scars.

Story

Aechor was created less than a century before the war against the Agma. His life was always dedicated to martial training, and he enjoyed it.

As a paladin of Lord Qi, Aechor fought bravely in the war. His dedication to the cause was absolute, but perhaps even stronger than that was his bond to those he fought alongside; he considered these brave daitens to be his siblings. Among the relationships that had the largest impact upon him during this period of his life was the one he held with his mentor, Esthur, who taught him how to fight with a unique combination of magic and martial skill.

Just a few short weeks before the fall of Heaven, Aechor lost his right arm in battle, taking a blow meant for his fellow soldier Aurora. He struggled with his trauma and survivor’s guilt in the following weeks during his recovery, accepting a halo only at the insistence of Esthur and Vallis.

Upon the fall of Heaven, Aechor and his comrades were engaged in battle. As the Heavens came crashing down around them, Aechor found himself separated from his makeshift family, now on the surface of the planet Orth and utterly alone. He wandered for decades, at first convinced he would find those he knew, but it never came to pass. Not only was he unable to locate his companions; no daitens were anywhere to be found.

Aechor found solace in the civilizations through which he traveled. He grew quite fond of these creatures, and made friendships with them. Occasionally, he would find himself settling down in some city or other for several years before one day deciding to move on. In this way, Aechor passed eight hundred years, until finally, he came across other daitens once more and a cause which beckoned him to put his martial skills to use once more: a revolution.

It was in the midst of battle that he encountered a much-changed Esthur fighting for the enemy. Aechor managed to best Esthur, but rather than killing him, he begged Esthur to join their cause. Esthur relented, and now Aechor tries to assimilate him into their group, met by a great deal of awkwardness on Esthur’s part.

Now Aechor works with a small group to root out a traitor in their midst.
