About

Alaya has had to have a tight control over her emotions from a young age. While she isn’t considered emotionless even to those out of the loop, she tends to react with subdued intensity. In spite of this, she’s recognizably an incredibly caring person. She seems level-headed, but internally she’s constantly monitoring her powers and emotions for the safety of herself and others. If she struggles at something, she tends to stop trying before she gets stressed, leaving people to assume she’s mediocre at most skills.

She gravitates towards outcasts, others most people wouldn’t normally choose to interact with, though she isn’t considered an outcast herself. This leads to an interesting and distinct disconnection between her loner friends and more social acquaintances. Either way, she’s incredibly supportive of the people in her life and allows others to underestimate her. She finds that it's better to allow people to make assumptions about her than it is to put herself at risk by making herself appear "powerful"

Trivia

Likes

Trivia Games It isn't just items that Alaya collects at random, but fun facts too. Her friends are so varied that just being around them allows her to osmosis fun facts from loads of different communities. She likes trivia games because she often knows a lot of the facts from her friends, allowing her to bond with them when they go as a group.

Copper Materials To Alaya, copper is a beautiful color that is easier to clean, and working in the shop means she can get easy access to any copper that comes in. it's also conductive to heat and electricity, which means it meshes well with her powers if she ever needs to use it. Only downside is that she doesn't cook, so she doesn't have any reason to have it.

Trending Music Alaya likes the cheery pop songs that play on the radio, and the oldies that were big in her parent's generation, and the familiar dance songs that play in every bar. She knows it's "boring" to others, but she likes familiar things that everybody knows and she isn't afraid to admit it.

Scented Candles She thinks that its a good way to extend her magic without hurting anybody, and it makes her feel calm and relaxed to practice with them. The scent helps especially, she likes it when they can make her house smell more like a home.

Mindfulness Meditation Anything to help practice her magic, meditation fits easily into her schedule and can be done anytime, allowing for her to relax easier. It allows her to both express herself and not have to worry about losing control and hurting others... for now. She knows that if she's not careful it could lead to her losing some kind of control.

Dislikes

Smoke Where there is smoke, there's a fire, and where there's a fire... Alaya might have started it. Smoke makes her panic visibly because she believes she might have been the cause.

Cooking The number of times she has almost burned down her kitchen from the stress of her cooking getting away from her is enough to make her never want to cook ever again.

Glaciunus Military She left her come country to escape being enrolled as a child soldier. She hates that it exists and that she has to worry about any of this to begin with.

Summary

Early Life

Raised in the Vezevidge kingdom of Glaciunus, and the cold did not agree with her. It wasn’t a thing against the weather, but rather the cold bitterness that hung in every social interaction. The fear they had of her. Like most Partasuim, Alaya draws her power through her emotions, her feelings seeping into her self-control. Unlike most Partasuim, she struggled with this ability for most of her life. Her night terrors started house fires and her playground arguments would cause blackouts. When it first began, the community assumed that she was too rowdy for her parents to handle, a troublemaker who struggled with composure. She was seen as a bad example, and too dangerous to be around other children.

She wasn’t, rather what her family came to realize was that she was too magically powerful for her little body and mind to handle. If she kept this up, she was bound to face a rebound, so the debates started. Alaya’s extended family were nationalistic, and saw the immense power she held as an opportunity for their country. Glaciunus was at war, and if they could train the little powerhouse properly, she could turn the tides of any battle she entered. Her parents, alternatively, saw how negatively her power was impacting her already, and worked to train her to control it through their own methods. One of her uncles, irritated with what he interpreted as cowardice, attempted to enlist Alaya in the military himself, possibly even spreading rumors of how dangerous she was to ensure she would be taken.

Beyond Vezevidge

When word reached her parents, they disowned their extended family and took their children, Alaya’s younger brother was only a baby at the time, and fled the country with everything they could salvage. While they never saw combat, they were still considered refugees by the bordering country and were offered safety and comfort. Alaya was in an environment where no one thought she was a monster, and with years of self-control practice under her belt, Alaya made her first friend at 13, another refugee child. As time went on, her parents moved further inland to avoid any confrontation with soldiers of the seven kingdoms, eventually settling in a country known to be equally welcoming to all people.

While there, Alaya apprenticed under her parents. The careers her parents left behind were earned through nepotism, and as they came to create a business for themself, they realized they needed to truly train their daughter to earn any position she got. They opened a pawn shop below their house, showing Alaya how to run a company and trusting her behind the counter alone from as young as 15, though they watched her from afar to ensure she stayed safe.

Stifling her incredible magic, Alaya didn’t want to be singled out as special again, not realizing why she was so isolated as a child. Her brother did not have the same apprehension. David Solokov was a genius from youth, recognizable since Alaya was 14 and he was only 8. His learning was accelerated compared to the rest of his classmates, pushing him to boredom and struggling. His concerned teachers offered to move him up a grade, and eventually his parents agreed it would be for the best.

Alaya did her best to be encouraging, but he had already seen her anxiety about being in the spotlight, and heard stories of how being different led her to being socially abandoned. He only admitted it to Alaya when he turned 10, but he began to intentionally dumb himself down and act up after being moved up so the teachers wouldn’t try to move him again. Alaya couldn’t help but feel inadvertently responsible, and that guilt pushed her not to tell anyone.

Pawn Shop Inheritance

When Alaya was 17, her parents informed her that they had intentions of moving to another side of the country. Things were finally dying down in their lives, and they wanted to move someplace that reminded them of home. Despite leaving Glaciunus for safety, they still found themselves missing it, which Alaya understood. However, it was depressing for her. She had no love for the cold of the mountains or the views from high up, but she did have friends in the city and didn't want to leave them. With a lot of effort, she managed to convince her parents she was old enough to take care of herself and her business, and they chose to give her a trial period of managing it herself before making any finalized decisions. When she managed to pull it off (with a bit of stumbling) they agreed to let her and her brother stay while they moved. The family would still meet every month so it wasn't the end of the world.
