Barnabas Zedok

Barnabas is a thin man with a figure that is nearly an hourglass. His hair and skin are very fair. He flushes easily, and burns even easier. Tips of his ears, fingers, and toes have a bluish tint to them, Barnabas guesses the reason for this is he is technically dead. Due to spirits and undead in the area his hometown was located in had a tradition of doing a bar-shaped brand horizontally across both palms of someone who has died. Since Barnabas was also sentenced to death, he also has an x on his palm placed below his thumb and the other brand. He used to wear gloves constantly to hide this, but has stopped in recent years.

He has an angular face with defined cheekbones. His crescent-shaped teal eyes are light-sensitive so he tends to wear sunglasses. Barnabas follows fashion trends and dresses nicer outside of work. He does like round shirt collars and teals and greens, however, and will still wear them even when they go out of fashion. While working he dresses in plain, ready-made clothes paired with shoes with a heel to them. As well, typically he uses sleeve garters as he doesn’t like the feeling of rolled sleeves.

Based on his pointed teeth and ears, people tend to presume that his parents were an elf and something ‘inhuman’. People are correct about the elvish part. However he’s actually an odd type of undead; the type of undead Barnabas is practically unheard of outside of his hometown and, as far as he is aware, he has all the hallmark traits of being one.

A rough early life left Barnabas with the fear that he constantly has to prove himself in other's eyes otherwise his community will ostracize him or worse. He worries deeply about how others perceive him and he works hard to be seen as a valuable part of his community. Barnabas does genuinely care about people and tries to live a life of goodness. He firmly believes that life is unfair and that it is important to treat others with kindness because of this. Sociable, Barnabas loves meeting new people and hearing about their lives. He will talk for hours if no one stops him. Barnabas is deeply devoted to his friends, tries hard to remain in contact with people he cares about even if it's only through writing. Despite wanting to be close to others, Barnabas has a hard time admitting to love, especially with partners.

He has a rather hit-or-miss memory. Barnabas excels at remembering conversations and interactions. He'll be able to recall small details about others ranging from things they have said to their reactions to the clothes they were wearing. That being said, he often forgets dates, times, and locations. The man writes down all the plans he makes in a notebook, and checks it repeatedly throughout the day. Barnabas is also horrible at remembering things that he reads so he will wind up rereading books and newspapers several times in order to get everything to stick.

Barnabas feels emotions intensely. He’s quick to cry and can get petty when mad. The man is well aware that he has the tendency to overreact initially. And, before he can actually deal with a problem, he needs a few moments to compose himself. Barnabas knows he is seen as weak because of this. He doesn't feel like there is anything inherently wrong with being emotional -even if it does occasionally get him in trouble- but does hate being seen as less of a man because of it.

• With the type of undead he is, he is very finicky with food as most of it makes him ill. Eats mainly sugars and raw red meats. He will only eat raw meat in front of a few people.
• The most valuable thing he has stolen is a journal from the IRL equivalent of an early artic circle explorer. It is 100% irreplaceable and he will sooner die again then give it back. Barnabas swears up and down he did not take it if asked.
