Bram Steele

A noticeably tall man, Bram typically is at least a head taller than others. He has a boxy build and is noticeably fit; being a detective for the Bureau of Unusual Incidents is very much a ‘stay in good shape or die’ kind of job. While he has gotten his fair share of injuries in his life, the only scar that is readily visible while he is dressed is a half dollar-sized one one his upper left cheek, right against the hairline, and a large scar taking up most of the underside of his jaw. Bram does have partial vision loss in his left eye from the same incident that caused said scars. He occasionally wears an eye patch as he does get headaches centered around that eye. Bram does have brown eyes with prominent eyelashes. When he was younger, he had yellow eyes like the average werewolf, but his eye colour changed after being cursed by a witch. Like other werewolves, Bram does have prominent canine teeth.

The sides of his dark, brown hair are brushed back, the top sweeps to his left. His hair can be messy. Since his wife’s death, Bram’s appearance is constantly on the border between socially acceptable and disheveled. He keeps himself constantly busy with one thing or another so small things like brushing his hair or shaving fall to the wayside. Bram barely sleeps either and looks as tired as he feels. He has always had prominent lines in the inner corner of his eyes. This combined with hooded eyes exaggerate the dark circles that come with the lack of sleep.

His clothes show visible signs of wear and repair. He dresses in plainly ready-made clothes that are unflashy colours. Bram also often wears a flat cap as it hides how messy his hair can get. Very typical of a werewolf, his pants are loose with rolled cuffs. Bram still wears his gold wedding ring which has an inscription on the inside of the band, as per tradition in Isador. It says "A good man, my best friend."

People that knew him before, remark that he's more private and irritable than before, but overall handling his wife's death remarkably well. In truth, Bram is wildly depressed, it just manifested in emotional numbness. Bram has always much rather suffer in silence than drag others into his problems. He used to have excellent rein on his emotions, but his control has slipped a bit since his wife's death. Because of how he grew up, Bram is acutely aware of others and how small actions can largely affect how one is viewed. He worries that if people knew how poorly he is holding up that at best he would be viewed as weak or at worst as dangerous. So, he purposely tries to present himself as more emotionally stable than he actually is.

Bram is a naturally curious person. Something will strike his interest and he won’t leave it be until he figures out the ‘how’ and ‘why’ to it. Bram has wound up with a surface level knowledge on a lot of topics and a deep knowledge on topics that rarely matter. He can come off as overly nosy, especially if he finds a person interesting, since he will ask atypical questions while trying to get to know them.

He has always liked to think his actions through and be the one to plan things, when able. However, he will do wildly impulsive things when with close friends to make them happy. Bram’s need to prove how much his friends mean to him easily overshadows his want to be thorough. It is hard for him to tell people how much they mean to him so actions have to suffice.

• Habitually gives people nicknames. It's usually just a shortened version of the person's actual name.
• He's technically not an actual werewolf, just cursed. Bram calls himself a werewolf due to how curses are viewed in Isador. He's also cursed by a witch.
• Can speak and read 3 languages: Jacrosian, Isadorian, and Sovorian (central dialect). Sorta can understand the upper dialect of Sovorian when spoken to, but can't speak it back.
• Speaks with a pronounced Capital accent largely due to his father-in-law. Often gets teased for it.
