pearls the embodiment of "your secrets safe with me". the Deal with her first partner is a little vague bc im still working out the details, but she was born of that wish for hiding and secrets etc. things were good for the first lil while, but at some point, she messed up in a major way, revealing information to someone who shouldnt have had it, and getting her partner into massive trouble. they did a complete 180 on her, distrusting her and treating her cruelly. there was a part of them that didnt want to be alone, so they never quite dismissed her, and pearl was desperate to earn back their trust, so she didnt leave either. Celest — 11/12/2022 7:22 PM this all Culminated in blowout (of some sort, tbd), where their partner bond finally got severed and pearl was abandoned. super distraught and weak and crying, shes noticed by some dark forces... she tries to run. and runs straight into frankie, a griffy, who rescues her. frankie gets her to safety and helps clean her up. frankie comforts her. they spend a few days together, and pearls soft heart is instantly attached. she failed her first partner, she wants to do right by frankie. but shes too weak to actually form a proper partnership bond, and she's scared if she goes dormant, she wont be able to find frankie again. frankie says pearl doesnt need to do some fancy magic, just keep her company. pearl thinks her power will bounce back eventually, maybe, probably. and they spend the next several years travelling together.

• frankies had rotten luck in life. born poor and never really been able to get out of it. her worlds 1800s adjacent so life is just hard. for all the comfort pearl offers, theres little pearl can do to help that. (which she feels terrible about.) nevertheless, frankie endures.

  when frankies working as a housemaid, her wish finally reaches the astral plane. shes tired of being take advantage of. she wants to finally get ahead, for once in her life. enter julia.

  julia is the comfy pearl wishes she was. strong, decisive, brave, confident. julias a warrior. pearl admires and is deeply envious of her in equal measure.

  julia and frankie together are able to concoct plans that help her rise to the top of the servant class, and eventually, frankie becomes the de-facto master of the house.

  its a bit comedy of errors as frankie tries to help pearl and julia be friends, frankies just kind of a stiff awkward person.

  but please imagine frankie encouraging them to talk, so pearl and julia standing there face to face, pearl trying to work through 100000 confused conflucting feelings and then just. julia looking at her, almost reachng for her then pulling back, and softly--for the first time ever, gently--just, "i feel like i've always known you."

  bc julias born from frankies heart, and frankie already knows and loves pearl. julia doesnt see the flaws and inadequecies pearl does in herself.

  eventually julia succeeds in convincing pearl to go dormant to rest and recover properly. "but what if i can't find my way back?" "i'll guide you home."
