Growing up, Emery adapted to being alert as the kids around him liked to poke fun at him often. Despite this, Emery never failed to do his chores around the orphanage and his dutiful nature instilled some normalcy into his life. While he didn't have any friends growing up, Emery's growing kinship with his adoptive father made him a loyal companion. Because of this, his adoptive father was able to teach him many trades of craft, making the young boy quite skillful and incisive .

Emery is extremely confidential . His habits to keep things to himself never died. Because of his quiet nature, Emery rarely shows his emotions outwardly, while he is easily aggrivated, he appears to be impersonal and objective ; it is easy for him not to get attached to others easily.

Due to obedience being drilled into Emery, he is submissive to those in authority. He rarely fights back defiantly when he's caught in an unsavory situation. However, he is assertive when wrongful blame is put on him. He is quite impulsive in decision making, often doing things he might regret later but it always turns out fine. While his complacency is clear as day whenever his actions result in something good. Emery has always clung to things that make him feel safe, creating a possessive side of him that rarely shows face unless provoked.

✦ EARLY LIFE ✦

Emery was orphaned as a baby. He was left on the doorsteps of a local children's home, but regretfully the home did not have any more room. He was transferred to an orphanage where he lived out the early years of his life. As a child he was quite antisocial and never mingling with the other children. Needless to say, he was always found reading out in the gardens and writing his own quippy poetry. On top of that, Emery was skinny and short, so he found partaking in physical activies echausting. Because of this the other children started to taunt and poke at him for not being like them: hearty and strong. Emery was bullied in creative ways each day, though he always stood his ground. No one really stood up for him, not even the adults who happened to witness such actions.

The island Emery's orphanage was located in was far from perfect. The streets were gloomy with little light, the atmosphere thick with smog, and the people were of unsavory character. It was in a deplorable state, Emery hated life on the island. With the days going by in mostly a blur, Emery grew more and more distant. He rarely spoke to people even when he visited the town, rather he talked with the plants in the garden. It was more soothing to talk about his worries to those who couldn't talk back, at least he thought.

Though one day, things took a drastic turn. An old merchant from the Grass Continent visted the island on a whim. It was happenstance he and Emery met on the street. Emery, dared by his dealer, tried to pickpocket the old merchant. The old merchant's hands were even quicker and grabbed Emery's. He gave Emery a firm scolding, but upon seeing the disinterested state of the young boy, the old merchant's anger fell. He began to spark a conversation with Emery. Slowly, the old merchant created a bond with the boy, however, in a few days time he was set to sail back to his homein Treasure Town. Emery saw this as his escape. Without really thinking things through, Emery packed a light sack full of personal belongings and stole away in the night. He baorded the old merchant's boat without informing the man. It wasn't until the boat departed that he was discovered. While upset at Emery's reckless actions, the old merchant gave in and took Emery under his wing.

✦ EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN ✦

Emery never once regretted stowing away. The old Merchant, now his father, gave Emery a life worth living. Emery had easier access to books and writing tools he never thought imaginable. Had there always been such beautiful words? With the newfound wealth of money, knowledge, and experience, Emery began to find passions other than poetry. He began to take on the practice of herbal medicine, often working with the local doctors in the town. He began to pick up fencing on the side, he was a quick learner and mastered the art quickly. Emery found hapiness with his father but as all good things must come to an end, so did this.

Emery was no older than 16 years old by now when the old merchant's health started failing rapidly. No amount of medicine Emery and the local doctors conjured up could save his declining health. Emery wasn't ready to accept the loss of the one person he loved. He wasn't ready yet he stayed by the old merchant's side as he lived out the last months of his life.

Needless to say, Emery fell into another rut, falling from the high he was in left him extremely empty. Emery's loneliness was creeping into his awareness. He was alone. Emery resulted in self harm to stave off a bit off the bad thoughts going on in his head. He escaped reality in other ways, occassionally using recreational drugs. Despite that, he urged forward. He picked up the pieces and began to continue his medicinal practice to continue earning a living. Yet now it all just felt meaningless. Emery craved to do more with his life, it was making him a bit listless staying put in the town.

✦ PRESENT DAY ✦

Now, aged 19, Emery was heading to the markets when he heard word that a group of bounty hunters was in town. Curious, about this novelty, Emery approached the group leaders Shiloh and Zaki. Upon learning about their job and what they do, Emery was urged by some unknown force to join their group.

Emery was brought back to Kala island with the team and upon their arrival he was officiall recruited. Though he's not the best at working as a team, the group of misfits are warm and welcoming. They are understanding and let him go at his own pace. Never experiencing such an overwhelming amount of support, Emery began to call Shining Justice his home.

Shining Justice has gone through many changes in the duration Emery has been a member, the team is now rebranded to Ephemeral.
