Dudley Crabgrass's Links
Because he's new to all things human, the first time Dudley went into a grocery store he was under the impression that you could simply take whatever you wanted! Unfortunately, that meant incurring the wrath of the store's manager. Dudley, for the first time, experienced terror and refuses to step inside grocery stores from now on.
Now Reggie loves all his customers, but if there's one thing he can't stand, it's a thief. When he saw Dudley trying to walk out with snacks, he was furious. If the man hadn't broken down into ugly sobs, he would have given him an eternity of torture, but instead gave him a warning. He doesn't see Dudley very often anymore, and when he does, he makes sure to keep many eyes on him.
Dudley owes a lot of everything to Earle! The king was the first to find him when he gained his powers, and even let him stay with him at the castle! Dudley didn't have a clue about how humans worked until he started working as a butler. He's very grateful towards Earle and follows him to the end, even after he got banished and sold his soul!
It's strange, though. Earle only seems to take interest in him when he needs his shapeshifting abilities...
Earle was one of the first to find Dudley when he first changed into a human. The king was well aware that he wasn't human in the slightest, but offered him shelter in his castle, letting him work as a butler. Dudley can be rather idiotic, but Earle is strangely incredibly tolerant of the crab.
Dudley loves working for the royal family! They helped teach him human basics when he first got his powers, after all! Balthazar is definitely much different from Earle, but they're the same at the same time! Like... they both tell him not to work so much! Aren't they the nicest?
Of course, Dudley's loyal to Earle, and the only reason he still works under Balthazar is so that he can monitor him and report to Earle.
Dudley's worked for the royal family for quite some time now. Balthazar keeps him around but doesn't make him do much. He doesn't have the heart to fire someone so optimistic, but dear God can Dudley be foolhardy sometimes.
"Sure! ... What's a husband?"
"This is my crab husband."
It's very reassuring to see another sea-dweller at the castle! Mr. Shrimp keeps to himself but seems to be friendly enough! Maybe Dudley could use that insecurity of not having a human body to get him on Earle's side?
Mr. Shrimp actually knew Dudley before they both went to live at the castle! Or, well, he had heard about him. From the other crabs. None of them nice.
With both Mr. Shrimp and Dudley learning how to be human and having known each other in the waters, Mr. Shrimp takes care of him like one would their child. Dudley respects him like a father, though it is an incredibly wavy father-son bond they share.
Mr. Shrimp has been human for a fraction of the time Dudley has, yet he knows more than the crab about what's right and wrong! He doesn't know what the hell is going on in that crustacean's mind but he'll try to get him on the right path!
... Maybe it's because Dudley didn't have a strong parental figure...?
Heinrich is always so nice, telling Dudley to do absolutely nothing! People say he's really mean, but Dudley knows deep down that he's doing his best!
Dudley is perhaps the dumbest butler Heinrich has ever met. Although he can't expect much from a crab.
Dudley was absolutely excited about Liam. Another crustacean that turned human?? What luck! He wants to show him around, especially to Red Lobster, but Liam always runs away by then. Why would you run from such tasty food??
When Liam turned human one day, he was met with a dashing crab man who showed signs of excitement towards his very existence. Liam was excited to see him as well, especially because Dudley was so nice and showed him all of the cool things that humans did! Everything was going well until the fated day when the two went to Red Lobster. Liam immediately thought it was a hangout place for lobsters and crabs, but learned it was a slaugther house that killed his b ro th e r s
he ran away screaming
but he's still good friends with Dudley.
Surely he won't eat him, Right??
Amelie's so nice! She's sweet and helpful and is even teaching him how to read and write so that he can better blend in with humans!
Amelie is very fond of Dudley, almost seeing him as another one of her younger siblings. She makes sure to spend time with him every day to practice his reading and writing. He's making such good progress!
