Clothing Style

Mariena has a very feminine and frilly style to her outfits. She fancies herself a princess, and she will always dress the part. Even in casual situations she'll dress in a lovely and prim manner with dresses or skirts with blouses. She's not a fan of pants or even shorts much, and she's especially a fan of long skirts or dresses, no matter how inconvenient they may seem for the environment. She also likes pretty heels, but she'll more casually wear flats or low heel Mary-Janes when out and about. Despite how cumbersome her wardrobe may seem at times, Mariena expertly moves with the grace of the princess she imagines herself to be. Don't be surprised if you see her running through treacherous terrain while holding up her long skirt and not missing a single step in her heels. She prefers lighter colors, but she's open to trying new things if they suit the situation (as long as it's still a cute dress or something). She likes wearing cute jewelry and will color coordinate her entire outfit when possible.

Personality

Mariena is a cheery, self-proclaimed "princess" who loves to socialize. On first impressions she can come off as a typical "girly girl" since she loves shopping, dressing up, makeovers, and pretty much anything shiny, bright, and pretty. She fancies herself as royalty and holds herself daintily and with grace, and you have no chance of convincing herself she's not a princess. Mariena tends to flit around and speak in a sing-song manner, and she loves socializing and getting attention at high energy and happy events. She can be a touch spoiled and superficial sometimes, but she's never intentionally unkind to others and is rather down to earth at her core. Many of her mannerisms might come off as "trying too hard" by people that don't know her well, but she honestly doesn't even think about it since it's so natural to her at this point.

Although she seems like the delicate princess she makes herself out to be, she's not afraid to take risks or get her hands dirty for the sake of her friends. She takes interest in other topics that might seem unexpected for her usual demeanor, especially if it's something that her closest friends enjoy. If they like something, Mariena tends to throw herself into it as well so she can better understand and appreciate it, especially if the topic means a lot to them. She enjoys being emotionally invested in the people she bonds with, and she's the type to be interested in pretty much anything they do regardless of how mundane it might seem to them. On a similar note, Mariena is also a bit of a romantic and loves thinking about finding your true love and living happily ever after like all the princesses she identifies with. She has a lot of celebrity crushes and tends to do lots of silly romance quizzes and the like just for fun, but she states she'd only get serious for her "true love." At the moment she believes that true love to be Matt, and she's very persistent in trying to win him over. Unlike a typical fairytale princess, Mariena is not one to wait for her knight in shining armor to find her; she saw him first, and she's not letting anything stand between her and her Prince Charming.

Backstory

Mariena grew up the only child of a rich family and was treated like a spoiled princess all her life. However, her best friend, Delyless, kept her grounded so she never became spoiled rotten. In fact Delyless's tomboyish personality and desire to attend public school like some of their neighbors is what got Mariena to become more adventurous and eager to try new things, and the two eventually convinced their parents to let them leave their private school for a more worldly experience at public school. Mariena sometimes seemed a bit oblivious to how crappy it could be at times, but it was more that she found the "medium quality" of the school new and exciting, something she was often called weird for.

It was at this school though that she and Delyless met a classmate who reluctantly went by the name Luke, and Mariena ended up being a mediator between him and Delyless since they tended to butt heads frequently. She was very persistent in befriending him since she found him so interesting and also seemed a bit lonely, and her efforts eventually brought the three together as the closest of friends.

During their sophomore year of high school, Luke was threaten by a foreign terrorist group called the Enlightened, and Mariena unexpectedly gets caught up when they targeted him at home. They are swiftly whisked away to the foreign world of Doobutsu Tenshi by a powerful sage, Maco Tesoto, in order to protect them from the attack. Mariena has since been blessed by a cat spirit and gifted with the power of Watyr rifting to better defend herself, which she adores and uses at every opportunity. Despite the dire situation of their arrival to Doobutsu Tenshi, Mariena has only been enthralled by the adventure and magic of the world, and she's also become enamored by Luke's second mentor, Matt Taina. She's seems to think she's been struck by "love at first sight" for her "true love," and although her friends think she's just being weird about a crush, she's very keen on trying to win him over.
