Profile

Zephyr - a young adult harpy (he/him) who rarely ever takes on a human appearance (he’s only ever done it a handful of times in his entire life, and doing so is incredibly uncomfortable for him).  In his harpy form, he resembles a large, roughly 12-foot-tall wyvern, with large, powerful legs, and enormous wings with colors akin to a gray hawk.  The scales beneath his feathers are an earthy green, and his eyes are gold.

As a human, the hair on his head resembles the feathers on his wings when he is a harpy; grey with stripes of white like a hawk, and his skin is a pale grey-ish-red with lots of darker freckles.  His eyes are the same as they are in his harpy form as well; all gold with a slit pupil like a cat, and his right ear has a large tear in it.

Zephyr is a harpy, a powerful and incredibly loyal species of avian reptile (to those it sees as family), who possess the ability to breathe fire, fly for extraordinary distances without the need for a break, and even take on human form.  When Zephyr was just a hatchling, he fell out of the sky and into Eris’ village.  He has no recollection of why this happened or where he came from, and as far as he can remember, he’s always been by Eris’ side.  Zephyr is completely attached to Eris and is entirely unwilling to take orders from anyone else, and unlike most harpies, who are willing to take on a human appearance to communicate with non-harpies, Eris is the only one who is really able to understand Zephyr, who refuses to (for reasons not even he fully understands).  Being a human makes Zephyr incredibly uncomfortable, and he’s just a lot more confident and happy when he looks like a giant dragon.  As a harpy, it’s difficult to really tell what he’s thinking most of the time, and he’s generally just hard to read.  Usually though, his emotions are fairly base-level and uncomplicated, ranging from bored, to content, to angry (though when he’s angry, he’s ANGRY, and that emotion at least is very easy to see.). Zephyr isn’t really one for games or playfulness either, most likely a trait he picked up from Eris, although his unfriendly demeanor may come off as menacing, he’d genuinely never hurt a fly… unless Eris asked him to, in which case, the fly will be reduced to atoms.  He currently tolerates Tiberius, but Zephyr enjoys giving them a harder time than he would the average stranger, simply because the short little reality bender wasn’t particularly kind to him when they first met.  (As Eris and them have begun to grow closer however, Zephyr is starting to trust Tiberius a bit more and allow them to have some of his loyalty, which is incredibly rare for a harpy.  Even Eris was happily surprised by this behavior.)

(He also sits like a chicken, but don’t let him hear you say that)

Name Origin: Zephyr’s name derives from Zephyrus, the Greek personification of the western wind.  Compared to the others, Zephyrus was seen as the most favorable and gentle winds, and in modern English, the word “Zephyr” simple means “a gentle breeze.”

Motifs: When Zephyr fell from the sky in the middle of town, the first thing he remembers upon waking up is the sun; taking up all his vision in the sky directly above him.  Since then, he has had a strange fascination with the sun, and he doesn’t fully feel safe doing much after sunset; waking up as soon as it does, and sleeping soon after it falls below the horizon.  Zephyr also has a connection with predatory birds like hawks and eagles, and he always felt a sort of kinship with them before he had to chance to meet any of his own kind.

Orientation: Asexual : Homoromantic
