Anomi

Anomi - A young adult woman (she/her); oldest of the group; with crazy long dark hair that she keeps tied back in a practical ponytail.  She is massive in stature, entirely muscle, and is generally viewed as having a startling appearance; appearing like a grim omen of death when in her armor.  She has brown eyes, warm brown skin, and a natural mallen streak in her hair that starts at her left eyebrow and ends at the base of her ponytail.  She is also covered in scars from the many battles she has fought and won as a soldier of Conquest.

The Conqueror, and The Conquering Kingdom as a whole is one of the most recent imaginations of the Dreamweaver, however, their lack of history does not impede their drive for power, fame, and glory.  Anomi is from a working-class family within Conquest, and like most in her kingdom, she strives to earn honor and adoration for herself and her family through military service.  Anomi is incredibly skilled in combat, and she has definitely made a name for herself, not only within Conquest, but to the surrounding kingdoms as well, as a terrifying soldier with unstoppable physical strength.  This being the case, most expect her personality to be just as unruly and brutal as her behavior in combat, but this can’t be further from the truth.  Outside the armor, Anomi is very friendly to everyone she meets, and is actually pretty merciful for a soldier of her rank.  Some may view this as another high-level tactic to make her enemies let their guards down, but she’s anything but a liar, and never fails to be genuinely warm to everyone she meets (when not provoked).

Name Origin: Anomi is a name that, in modern English, is sometimes used by anonymous writers to mean “no name”, but the name actually originates as an African surname.  Specifically for this character however, I took inspiration from “Anomie”, a term in sociology that refers to the loss/change of the morals and values of a society, causing a feeling or isolation and disconnection for someone who still values those original ideals (this reflects Anomi’s own character arc).

Motifs: Early on, Anomi (and the nation of Conquest as a whole) are characterized by looming shadows, extreme violence, blood, and stark red and black imagery, however, as Anomi is seen more as her own person by the main cast, her symbols change to reflect her personality; intimidating and powerful (yet soft) animals like bears and wolves, and dangerous yet beautiful plants like foxglove and oleander for example.  Her original motifs of shadows and war never fully disappear however, as she still holds a lot of pride for her country.
