  • 6’0” in height
  • Physically fit with well built muscles, although he isn't bulky
  • 6 piercings per ear; 3 upper, 3 lower
  • Sharp canines with a second set of fangs behind them that can be folded out/extended similarly to a snake's fangs
  • Does not have a tail anymore; was clipped off during his time in Delzin

Clothing Style

Zy tends to have a rather edgy style to him, and he tends to pick only dark shades or neutral/cool colors that aren't too flashy or bright. He most frequently wears trench coats made of durable material and having numerous inner pockets. Unlike stereotypical Rytilians, he actually wears his jackets properly and uses the sleeves. Under his jacket he usually wears some kind of black top of varying sleeve lengths depending on the weather, although since he primarily works in Daliarivon he typically wears long sleeves since it has a rather cool climate most of the time. He also tends to wear tops with high collars or wear a short neck wrap of some kind, usually made of a more durable material than basic cloth to better protect his throat. Under his shirt he also wears some light weight chest armor to protect from piercing weapons or bullets. His pants also tend to be equally protective, and he usually wears shin or knee-high boots with reinforced heels and toes for protection and more painful kicks. Both his boots have sheaths for knives, and he wears two belts around his waist on the outside of his jacket for his dual pistols, since he has little desire or need to hide them for any reason.

The jacket he wears most often is a blue-ish gray trench coat with white edges and stripe patterns on the front. The sleeves have white angled cuffs, and on the back and on each shoulder is a motif of a snake coiled around a rose. His eyepatch is of black and gray leather, he sometimes wears black gloves, and his earrings are either silver colored or black. He always wears a pendant with an Edelweiss design, which holds pictures of his wife and his son. He will often tuck it under his collar to keep it from being damaged when not in a safe location, which is often. He also has a silver wedding band, but he doesn't wear it in public and keeps it safely tucked away unless he's wearing it in private.

Personality

Zy is a rather moody and erratic mercenary assassin who has little regard for the lives of others. His demonic aura is very strong and has obviously permeated his mind with demonic insanity, and couple with the fact he also suffers from PTSD, he tends to have issues keeping himself level headed and often lashes out at others when even mildly stressed or stimulated. To the public eye, he is a remorseless killer with a basically nonexistent moral compass, and he loves the thrill that killing brings him and seems as though he doesn't know what guilt is. He's the type to hold mortal grudges against others and will not turn away from wiping out anyone that crosses him. When not in combat, Zy tends to be very grim and cold around others. He goes about his business with a no-nonsense attitude, but he's very easy to provoke into his killer state. He carries a very intimidating and menacing demeanor, and there's no telling when or what might make him snap. He doesn't seem to have any tolerance or sense of humor with others, so it's best to simply avoid all contact at any cost.

The few people who know him on a personal level are the only ones who may see his more mellow demeanor when "off the job," and these few include mostly his son and his late wife's family. Apparently Zy was much more calm and unassuming, although still rather troubled, during his early adult years when he and Ursula first met and when they eventually married. Ursula's family knew him as being rather quiet but always polite and protective toward his wife, and his current demeanor would likely shock any of them. In the present day, he still tends to behave himself better when on Taliac, simply because he spent so much time integrating into their society during his relationship with Ursula. During this time he was a much calmer and collected person when with her, and he seemed genuinely happy with his life around her and rarely lost his temper. That part of him seems to have died with her though, but he still will act much more reasonable when on Taliac and avoid making a scene for his in-laws. Zy genuinely loves and appreciates the Zweigers for all they've done for him, especially since they've taken in his son, Volkmar, as their own in his absence. Zy is at his calmest and most stable when around Volkmar. He's not a particularly good parent in any sense, but he loves nothing more than his son and is willing to do anything to protect him and make him happy. He is viciously protective of his son and mortal family, and he does not forgive any slights to them easily. Zy would probably be better off if he spent more time with his family rather than letting himself spiral into violence from his mercenary work; and he should probably go to therapy while he’s at it.

Zy doesn't express his feelings or personal thoughts very often, and certainly not to anyone he doesn't trust entirely. Those who know him or observe him intimately for long enough will know that he is much quieter and less "crazy" when he's alone or only with those close to him. He tends to get distracted by his own thoughts if left to his own devices, and some of his mannerisms and reactions to various stimulus are a clear sign that he struggles with the scars his past has left on his psyche. Although he couldn't appear more confident in himself when doing his mercenary work, Zy seems to have a deep loathing for the person he has become and constantly is at war with his inner demons in some attempt to be the good person his wife saw him as and what his son likely wants him to be. Zy has a habit of blaming himself too quickly for things that negatively affect those he cares about, and he tends to run from his personal problems rather than communicating with others. There's some part of him that would love to leave behind his life of crime and killing, but he doesn't have the self-confidence or faith that he is capable of such a thing and that he will always remain "broken." He also has a constant fear that he is cursed to never find happiness and that he is the reason why so many bad things happen in his life and to the people involved with him. He tends to run from his problems and from the people he cares about, for in his mind, staying with them and hoping for happiness is a surefire way to lose them in tragedy once again.

Abilities

  • Eterniti rifting - rank 1/5, although he's better at charging his weapons with his rifting or channeling energy from another source rather than rifting on his own
  • Demonic strength and agility, along with hairline reflexes, heightened senses, and flexibility
  • Mastery with firearms, knives, daggers, and hand to hand combat
  • Extremely high pain tolerance, accelerated regeneration from demonic aura, and can survive most injuries that would normally be fatal to mortals
  • Thermal vision
  • Venomous bites from fangs with two types of venom
  • Shapeshifting - giant two-headed snake
    • There seems to be a second "mind" within him that manifests in the left head of his two-headed snake form
    • This "mind" can sometimes briefly take control of his humanoid form and cause his already superhuman strength to spike, although Zy never seems aware of when this occurs
  • Fluent in Rytilian and German, and proficient in English
  • Skilled at piloting a number of vehicles, including the medium sized ship he lives/travels in along with his hover bike also stored within the ship

Strengths

  • Confident, bold, and fearless
  • Resourceful, adaptable, and clever
  • Calculating, instinctive, and persuasive
  • Intimidating, independent, and loyal to those fortunate enough to bond with him

Weaknesses

  • Mentally unstable, sadistic, and afflicted with severe demonic insanity, along with suffering from PTSD
  • Mistrustful, unsympathetic, and typically acts out of self interest unless acting for those he's bonded with
  • Uncooperative, irresponsible, stubborn, and short tempered
  • Severely lacks self worth, doesn't believe he's capable of being "fixed," and seems to have resigned himself to his unfulfilling and chaotic life

Backstory

Zy and his older brother, Zulatticuzin, were captured with their parents from their tribe on Rytikdrein by Delzin when he was very young, yet he distinctly remembers his father being shot by guards and his mother being dumped out of some chamber not long after. Zul took care of his younger brother and did all he could for them to survive, and Zy was mostly dependent on him for years. Although Zy doesn't talk much of his time there, he and his brother remained in the system for over a decade until they managed to escape during a riot. The two traveled together for some time, but Zy at 16 years old was eager to make it on his own for the first time, so the brothers finally parted ways. Zy picked up work at a guild in Emdrea and worked his way up to being a high ranked mercenary after two years. His demonic aura from spending so much time fighting and training in Daliarivon became increasingly powerful, making his personality more erratic and violent.

At 18 years old, during a job on the Demon's Realm side of Osakava, Zy encountered the siren, Alcata, and was enchanted by her spells. She toyed with him for some time before abandoning him, rather than killing or leaving him for dead like most sirens. The spell over him did not wear off however, and he sought her out for nearly a year before finding her, now legitimately in love with his brother, Zul. Feeling betrayed and confused, Zy ended up stalking them for years, even following them to Taliac after they had children. While watching them living in Washington DC, he encountered Ursula Zweiger, a German woman visiting her family on vacation. The two were charmed by each other, and Zy couldn't help traveling to Germany after her when she returned home. They spent a few years falling for each other before marrying and having a child. However, complications during childbirth ended up costing Ursula her life.

With nothing to keep him distracted anymore, Zy's mind started drifting back toward Alcata, and out of frustration he took his newborn child, Volkmar, back to America. He intended to talk with his brother about it, and he left Volkmar with Ursula's brother, Oskar, before going. The long walk there gave him time to reflect on the situation, which only upset him more and reminded him of the mercenary he used to be before Alcata entered his life. While walking through a park where a crowd was having a celebration, Zy snapped and fired into the crowd, killing dozens of people and leaving few survivors. He continued to his brother's home before authorities could reach the scene, but he was greeted at the door by neither Zul nor Alcata, but their oldest son, Tommy. Being in an already unstable state, Zy shot the boy without thinking and started after their youngest son, Tyler. It was during this pursuit that Alcata came down from upstairs and shielded her son from the gunfire, which killed her almost instantly. With her dead, the spell over Zy was broken and he stood there in a daze trying to figure out what he had done. He only snapped out of it when Zul arrived home, and feeling ashamed Zy fled from the house while his brother was occupied with his traumatized son.

Zy avoided detection from the police and returned to Oskar, asking him to care for Volkmar permanently until he could figure out how to resolve the situation. Although frightened by Zy's bloodied appearance, Oskar accepted, and they parted ways, Zy leaving Taliac entirely and Oskar packing up and leaving for Germany with his children and Volkmar to avoid police involvement should they discover Zy's identity or presence there.

Since then, Zy has returned to Daliarivon and takes on independent work as a mercenary assassin. Although he recognizes he was the one who wronged his brother, he still holds a some bitterness for Zul and is reluctant to face him and the consequences of his actions. He rarely is able to secretly visit his son on Taliac, but he cherishes each moment he can get with Volkmar, who seems to be his only source of grounding anymore.

Trivia:

  • Zy's first depiction was a giant snake who served as a monster during the first installment of Soul Tune. This snake didn't have a name at the time, and it was merely a creature out to kill Tommy while he was in Arakaivia with Kyle.
    • This was later slightly adjusted to Zy happening across Tommy in Arakaivia. Zy initially was going to simply ignore and avoid Tommy to essentially put the past behind him, but he was indirectly manipulated by Vinia Demrile into losing his temper and deciding to attack Tommy instead. It was during this attack that Zy lost his eye when Kyle stabbed him while he was in his giant snake form.
    • Zy describes the incident as "being careless around a kid with a sword." He doesn't entirely remember why he got into a fight and is still unaware he was manipulated into starting the fight in the first place, but he doesn't seem to dwell on it much and thinks it happened because his already erratic behavior got the best of him again. If anything, he'll admit that he probably deserved it.
  • There was a later event written in Soul Tune when Zul, Silazek, and Detra were supposed to get into a fight with the Gal and her friends over them injuring or killing their friends/family/allies (Kyle stabbed Zy in the eye, Aaron blew up a giant scorpion with one of his guns, and Darian injured a giant spider that chased them through the Ariacs' mountain range).
    • This event no longer occurs, or at least not in the same manner as it did originally, but it did set up Zul as a character, and Zy was named after this and given a humanoid design to be Zul's brother.
  • Zul and Zy had nearly identical designs aside from Zy missing an eye up until somewhat recently when both underwent redesigning. Zy still looks pretty similar to their original designs, while Zul got a slight hairstyle change so they wouldn't look basically identical with just different outfits.
  • Zy was originally going to be blond like Volkmar, but his hair changed to gray/silver at some point and Volkmar's blondness was adjusted to come from Ursula instead.
  • His signature weapons are two matching black and white pistols with snakes coiled down the barrel.
    • He also has a knife with a matching motif.
  • Zy's the type to cackle maniacally while sweeping his gatling gun fire across a crowd or even when others vainly shoot him in an attempt to fight back. He's not masochistic, but he gets a sick enjoyment out of others shooting him and having little effect on him due to his strong demonic aura.
    • He's capable of wielding two of these large automatic guns due to his demonic strength, so the weight and kickback don't seem to bother him in the slightest.
    • His gatling guns apparently are reloaded through a small portal built into the gun itself, where a seemingly endless belt of ammunition comes out of so he can fire indefinitely. He says it's from some obscenely expensive ammunition business where you basically "subscribe" to unlimited ammunition wormholed straight to your gun. He also claims the only reason he can afford the service is because he's the company's best "customer" and "business partner," implying he's done hitman jobs for them on numerous occasions.
  • Apparently Zy was also supposed to have a scar across the bridge of his nose in addition to the scar on his eye, but I forgot to include it on him when drawing him updated art. And now I'm too lazy to add it on, so I decided to just scrap that trait.
  • Zy is not very good at writing since he didn't learn it as a child and isn't that well practiced at it even today. He can manage minimal writing or signatures fine, but his handwriting is atrocious.
    • He's also not great at reading either. He can manage just fine, but he can be a little bit slow at reading anything more complicated than the typical memos, prompts, and info listings that he reads for his mercenary jobs.
    • Zy actually never learned how to write in Rytilian despite it being his first language, and he learned how to write from Ursula, so he only knows how to write using the German/English alphabet. He even signs his own name in this alphabet instead of Rytilian, since he honestly has no idea how to spell his name in Rytilian despite it being a Rytilian name.
    • For that reason, his spelling of his name is just an approximation based on phonetics when Ursula was teaching him to write.
    • At some point he likely looks up the proper spelling in Rytilian for his name out of curiosity, but he probably opts out of writing that way out of habit.
  • His gatling guns are capable of ”shifting ammo” to become flamethrowers when needed, but he doesn’t like to use them as such unless he absolutely needs to use fire.
  • Although he didn't specifically teach his son to be honest, like Volkmar, Zy also hates liars. Even though Zy is very immoral, he always tries to be honest and doesn't like lying about things if he doesn't have to.
    • He tended to think less of himself while in a relationship with Ursula, partly because he had to lie to her about what he was and what kind of person he was before meeting her. Ursula never knew about Zy's inhuman features or that he came from another world, and he was always torn about revealing it to her or not.
    • It's likely he would've finally told her about at least being Rytilian after Volkmar was born, since Volkmar was likely to show Rytilian traits at some point, but obviously he never had the opportunity.
    • He probably hates liars as some extension of his own self-loathing for being dishonest with Ursula about his true identity.
  • His favorite color is red, and not just because it's the color of blood and fire. That's just a happy coincidence, if you can call that happy.
  • Zy suffers from PTSD due to his horrible experience in the Delzin system as a child. He sometimes will have panic attacks if exposed to certain triggers. He's especially sensitive to heat, since one of his worst memories involves being packed into a chamber with other Rytilians to be burned alive. He and Zul barely managed to escape, but heat can still remind him of the terrible experience. He also gets very uncomfortable around fire because of this.
    • Another traumatic memory (aside from witnessing the murder of his parents) involved nearly being gunned down in a crowd of imprisoned Rytilians by the guards. Zul managed to pull him out of the line of fire and behind a building to hide, but the sounds and smells still linger in his mind. However, the sounds of gunfire and smell of gunpowder no longer put him into an emotional breakdown since he's so used to using guns on his own now. If anything, these triggers only tend to provoke him further in into a murderous rage.
  • His two headed snake form is very large and can easily tower over people and even cars.
    • The right head is missing its right eye like Zy does in his humanoid form, but the left head has both eyes still.
    • Although the two heads coordinate perfectly, Zy admits that he doesn't ever feel like he is in direct control of his left head. He has implied that it might have a mind of its own.
    • This second mind can occasionally take control of him, but only for a few seconds. His strength will spike, and he seems capable of doing things outside his normal abilities when this happens, but he is never aware of when this occurs nor remembers doing anything when this second mind takes hold.
    • It is not noticeable normally since he is always wearing his eye patch, but when his second mind takes control, his scarred eye will open and two entirely red glowing eyes (one above the other) will appear within the eye socket. There is no sign of them after he regains control of himself, so the instance is likely supernatural rather than an actual physical change.
    • Volkmar has claimed to hear an unfamiliar voice from his father's second head, or even from him when in humanoid form. The voice will emanate from Zy without him needing to physically speak, and Volkmar has observed that only he and Abel can typically hear it when it happens. Volkmar is convinced that this "second mind" within his father is that of an Eksel, but Zy isn't so sure since he's never aware of it. He hasn't dismissed the idea though, but he's not entirely sure what to do about it, or if there's anything he can do about it.
  • Although he'll never admit it, Zy would love to have a relationship with his brother again, but he's too stubborn and anxious to face him after killing his wife and son. He doesn't believe Zul will forgive him, nor should he, so he thinks the best decision is to simply stay out of his life entirely.
  • Zy has no interest in seeking any other love interests or even having physical relationships with anyone else. He's still very devoted to his late wife, and not taking a hint to not flirt with him might earn you a bullet in the skull.
    • A fellow mercenary whom he works with regularly, a Bellinan named Hekate Svala, seems to be mildly romantically interested in him, but he has no interest in her beyond a professional relationship.
  • His hover bike is a Plazma Core Rifter bike with anti-gravity thrusters and various artillery components. Zy is capable of accessing its features with ease by channeling his own rifting into the bike to manipulate its parts through his will alone, although he obviously still needs to physically steer it.
    • The rifting integration technology was developed and is mainly only found on Crystaless. Hekate hooked him up with his bike to repay him for a job, this one in particular being the one that solidified their reoccurring working partnership.
  • Zy sometimes drinks when he's feeling particularly mopey, but he's not an alcoholic. He doesn't really drink for fun or socially, and he only does it to "numb the pain" sometimes.
  • He would describe himself as a "pathetic, lovesick, emotional mess" regarding his time with Ursula. He doesn't consider this a bad thing though, since it was genuinely the happiest part of his life, but he admits that he was a mess and was surprised that Ursula even found him worth her time.
    • He'd probably say he's still an emotional mess in the present day, maybe still pathetic, but pathetic in a different way.
  • "What? I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of me not caring."
  • Sort of a gun enthusiast and is often interested in browsing or buying unique and impressive firearms for his arsenal. He also doesn’t mind collecting guns that are more decorative than functional, and he just keeps them in his ship.
  • Zy is also fond of knives in a similar manner, but he doesn’t collect them as much. He mostly just appreciates them and only keeps ones that are functionally effective enough for his missions.
  • Zy and Ursula met each other when Ursula literally ran into him in a park in Washington DC. She was trying to get a picture of a tall structure and backed up too fast directly into him, having enough momentum to knock him over and for her to fall backwards onto him. She frantically tried to apologize to him in both German and English, but Zy couldn't understand her very well.
