Appearance: Short black hair, green eyes with red rimming the pupils. He's lanky, but fit from training. He's often found wearing his dress shirt, vest, and tie. Two angled horns sprout from the top of his head, and he has a long red-violet tail with a heart-shaped spade at the end.
Personality: Derek is loud and obnoxious. He's always got his two cents to put in, and he loves to pull elaborate pranks on people. They'll be especially vicious pranks if they're being played upon enemies or people who've crossed him. All that being said, Derek really is trying to do some good in the world - he might not be the best at helping (he's kind of stupid) but he'll at least try to help people if they're having a problem.
Likes: Alternative rock, acrobatics ("particularly watching it, amirite-"), and 2000's cartoon reruns.
Dislikes: Drama (He'll try to joke around to avoid it), people insulting his friends, processed cheese ("why the FUCK don't we just eat CHEDDAR!?") 

Skills, abilities and weaponry:
Shadow Manipulation: Derek's dark magic is fueled by shadows. By taking shadows like fabric, he is able to create a dark liquid that forms into physical objects and weapons that are incredibly strong.
Live Shadows; When Derek uses shadows from living things, he ends up creating a spiked creature that is out of his control and drains his energy. The creature will continue on its rampage until the spines are all ripped out or Derek passes out. (This doesn't work if he is knocked out.)
Dead Shadows; He can create wraiths using shadows from corpses or dead plants. They'll follow his bidding and take solid form.
Knives; He has at least three knives on him.
Handgun; You betcher ass this kid is packing some heat.

Backstory: Derek is an illegitimate child of Satan. He was raised away from Rapture by his mother, Penelope Mavis. While he was bullied and even abused by several humans in the town, he used this as a source of motivation for him to eventually leave home and attempt to join the demon mafia, believing he was destined for greatness as Satan's son.
Such an opportunity was not handed up on a silver platter. He started fights and was pretty much immediately beaten due to inexperience. Satan admired his determination, however, as he kept getting up to fight more, desperate to prove himself. He's now been inducted into the mafia, and lives with his mentor, Melissa du Claire. He's best friends with Selena Alvar, a vampire he met by dragging along without warning to pull an elaborate prank.

Fun Fact; Derek's middle name is Zebediah, which means "Gift from Jehovah".
