Takahiro Ohtaki (大滝貴浩 Ōtaki Takahiro) is a minor character in Corpse Party: Forbidden Rebirth. He is the class representative of Misato Municipal Brotherhood High's class 3-4, the student council president, and Mitsuharu Ohtaki's older brother.

He is a minor character in TRUE END, GOOD END, BAD END and REVERSE END, as well as a main character in THE LOST CHAPTER.

Design

Takahiro is a teenage boy of somewhat above average height, with dark green hair and hazel eyes. His hair is parted just above his right eye, and is cut short in the back. He has slightly thick eyebrows, sharp eyes, and wears black rimmed glasses at all times.

He always wears the full Misato Municipal school uniform, consisting of a black gakuran jacket with a white button up, black pants, and brown loafers. His outfit is always freshly ironed and very well put together.

Personality

Takahiro is the stoic and taciturn student council president and class representative of Misato Municipal Brotherhood High's class 3-4. He's constantly analyzing things in both his schoolwork and his daily life, and is never quite able to switch his brain out of study mode. He's nearly incapable of seeing things from an emotional perspective, which has led to many issues between him and the rest of the student council members - much of the student body views him as an emotionless robot, built only to solve problems and nothing else, and often talk about them as though he isn’t even human.

The only thing Takahiro prides himself in are his results, both in his schoolwork and student council work. He spends every waking moment studying, completing homework and attending cram school, as these are the only things that have ever made sense to him. In his mind, there are those that are above him and those that are beneath him - his world revolves around numbers, and he feels as though he can place numbers on both himself and others based on their performance and grades. He refuses to ever let his own number drop below 98, and is extremely harsh on those whom he’s deemed to have low numbers in his mind.

Despite his mature and levelheaded demeanor, Takahiro is extremely naïve with little to no street smarts or common sense. A lot of his beliefs and knowledge about society have been hammered into his head by his delusional father - in reality, he has no idea how the world around him truly works, and only believes the things he reads in textbooks or hears from teachers. His naivety is especially shown when he instantly developed a crush on Kain Hagiwara's older sister, Shinju Hagiwara, and did not understand the difference in power dynamics between them at all.

His personality and extensive social and emotional issues are all the result of the abuse he’s suffered at the hands of his father, who has him trained to listen to him like a loyal dog. When he was much younger, his father's influence led to him frequently taking part in the physical and emotional abuse of his younger brother, Mitsuharu, who wholly despises him as a result. Despite the fact he’s been on the receiving end of much of the emotional abuse as well, he is heavily dependent on his father - he finds it almost impossible to think for himself, and needs constant direction in most situations, be it from his father, a teacher, or another authority figure.

After entering high school, Takahiro started to realize the way he treated his little brother wasn't a normal thing, and began to feel extreme guilt over it. Though he's attempted many times to make peace with Mitsuharu and no longer participates in any of the abuse, his brother’s stubbornness and wrath run deeper than any of his apologies could ever reach. A reunion between the two is essentially impossible, especially since Mitsuharu pretends he doesn’t even exist most of the time, but Takahiro refuses to give up trying and goes out of his way to be kind when he can.

After moving in with Shinju, Takahiro’s personality undergoes a drastic shift as he adjusts to the freedom he’s never had before. Though he still enjoys studying and learning, he’s much more relaxed and has been learning how to look at the world through an emotional perspective, instead of his black and white rationale. He still needs to rely on someone for guidance throughout the day, but this role has been taken over by Shinju, who’s warm and patient nature have made her the ideal person to help him navigate such an unfamiliar world. Additionally, he’s discovered how much he enjoys sweets, and shares a cheesecake with Shinju once per week at their favourite restaurant.
