Profile

personality: what happens to a brain when it's stuck at the age of twelve for over thirty years? kyoko is a kiamara frozen in time, spending most of her life absorbing other's fictional stories while never really exploring the world herself. residing within a massive city library under the collective care of a gaggle of old librarians, kyoko is blatantly honest, stubborn as a donkey, and most of all loves to absorb as much knowledge and as many stories she possibly can into her head. despite her pps syndrome kyoko has not been censored from the world, and can be shocking and somewhat creepy when she spouts out things both wise and dark despite having the maturity and appearance of a young child. she doesn't really comprehend that so many of her stories are incredibly dark and is rarely sympathetic towards others, which can both unnerve and disappoint those who expect a cute young child.
however, not everything that comes out of her mouth is purely fabricated, and whether you believe in ghosts or not, kyoko certainly believes the dark stories and ethereal visions she's picked up over her years in the library. she's really quite hard to be around for those who aren't used to her surprising harshness, and only has a few older friends such as aesop who have grown to love her over time. she's very clingy over these people and mourns them for decades after they die, which has happened surprisingly often given the elderly age of so many of the librarians.

history: abandoned at a young age once her parents realized that she would never grow to adulthood, kyoko was eventually picked up by some good samaritans working at a local library. while the librarians tried to take her to a local orphanage, kyoko ran away to be at the library again on such a regular basis that they eventually gave up and let the forever-child stay under their collective care. spending 24/7 in a library tends to pique an interest in reading, unsurprisingly, and within years once she had learned to read kyoko had gone through a big chunk of the library's collection despite it easily being the biggest establishment in Neon City. By the time she had reached her max 'age' at twelve, Kyoko was not just reading the library's standard collection but its atlases, historical records and even books considered too dark to put out on public shelves. Kyoko started a fascination with the occult, especially with the stories of sacrificial murders and lingering ghosts in the very library in which she lived.

Now, a child's imagination is incredibly vivid, and it's really up to the individual whether they believe the stories of criminal dealings, wailing ghosts and walls that turn to static that Kyoko tells about the echoing library. Still, it's undeniable that Kyoko spends more time than any prowling the halls, and is so small she can slip between bookshelves unseen and has caught almost as many thieves in the building as there has been them. In any case, Kyoko is one to watch out for, regardless of whether you believe her claims or dismiss them.

occupation: prankster/library 'helper'
hobbies: finding weird places to hide in, telling ghost stories, reading obscure children's fantasy books
relationships: as kyoko is a pps kiamara, she will never have a romantic relationship. however, she is incredibly close to aesop and treats him like the uncle she never had if not a father. because of this she accepts nenya as well and treats fable as a sort of 'sister' despite having a bigger age difference with the kid than fable does with her parents.
fun fact: despite still having the mind of the child, kyoko's read almost every book in her patron library and has some incredibly creepy stories up her sleeve. don't underestimate the tiny strawberry kid.
