Powers

The maylive have an incredible power falling under the magic power class. It is full blown resurrection, enabling the maylive in a sense to never die. If a maylive were to get shot, get electrocuted, fall to illness, suffocate, choke, and many other forms of death, it releases a "paper nymph". The nymph is as thin as paper and flutters through the air like a fish in water. The nymph carries the soul of the maylive with it so as long as the paper nymph remains intact a new body will form in about a day after "death". The only true way to kill a maylive then is to damage the nymph, fire being the most effective as the flames will engulf it.

Appearance

The maylive is black and white with patterns reminiscent of a stereotypical butler. Its exoskeleton is very angular like origami and its wings are like flowing paper. It walks around upright with four legs close together and long claws at the end of its arms. Maylives have three disntict tails with three points at the end of each

Other

Maylives are members of the humanoid social class. They are very well mannered and have even set up rules and laws to follow to the upmost degree, these rules being: Protect the Lex Tree, Record all significant events on the island, Peace over War, and Kindness for all. These rules are taught at the youngest ages and failure to follow them can result in banishment from the Lex Tree.

Story

Maylives grew up in a strange tree with abnormally large leaves and branches. This tree, the Lex Tree, gave the maylives a safe haven from danger. Not only did they use it as a home, but they used it for food as well. The leaves provided nourishment that could keep them fed for days. One rainy day, a particularly adventurous maylive climbed the highest branch of the great tree, though they ultimately failed and plummeted to their death. The next day, maylives flew down to investigate the body, but found that a new maylive had taken the place of it. They realized that when it came to death, they had a chance to revive themselves. However, they realized that this power was in a way a dangerous ability that could be abused. So they decided to abstain from fighting, preferring peace and kindness, as well as treating others with the finest of manners.

Trivia

● The paper nymph has become a symbol of the maylive people and is plastered on many books, flags, and more across their homes in the Lex Tree.

● If a fire starts at their home, the Lex Tree, they all swarm over to it to do what they can to put it out, even if it is a tiny flame.

● Maylives' antennae show how they are feeling.

● Despite being in a sense immune to starvation, they still like to eat just because of the sensation of being filled.

● The nymph must have access to fresh air or else it will wither and die. This means they cannot keep it safe inside an enclosed space like one of their homes.
