Personality [Calm, Curious, Playful]

An undoubtedly hard to shake individual, there’s not much that really cracks Ivair’s smile. While Ivair’s calm demeanour can be well…calming when needed. His calm smile during turbulent times is more unnerving than anything (a calm that can only be described as eerie as attested by many students). He often unintentionally scares his students with his pleasant tone when explaining gruesome parts of the course. Playful and surprisingly mischievous, Ivair doesn’t mind letting students get away with harmless pranks and was known for some in his time as well. He is quite lenient on his students, but then turns around and gives hard as fuck exams. He is also the type to unknowingly guilt students with his disappointed look.

Background

Ivair was a researcher, then consultant—specialising in the Dark Arts—before becoming the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. His love for research has not waned but he has found that teaching is also becoming a delightful occupation. And so while he hasn’t stopped researching, it has been delegated to more of a “on-the-side.”

From a pureblood family, Ivair had a relatively uneventful childhood besides his parents being too into throwing social gatherings and his younger sister gifting him ridiculous socks.

He holds a friendly rivalry with Viserys, enjoys participating in various demonstrations with the fellow professor and smiles a bit patronisingly when they go off on one of their unhinged rants. Viserys likes to participate in his side research and Ivair also likes to do so in return. They were from the same year but never really interacted with one another except at a few parties and classes as they walked in different circles. While they have worked together on cases before, they were fairly impartial towards each other until their teaching post.
