Bio: Laurent is a robotic engineer and a former engineering professor. He taught at a very great college, mainly for engineering but he also taught a couple computer science classes as well. After a while he decided to quit and go back to his stronger passion of building robots and androids. He has many machines to his name and they're all for his personal use; three of his creations are Lance, Lloyd, and Leroy.

He's usually a calm and quiet guy when off to himself but when presenting something or teaching he does so with confidence. He's very knowledgeable and helpful. He genuinely liked to see students succeed. In college is where he met Apollo in a comp sci class and Laurent was impressed with his skills that at one point he tried to persuade him to switch his major to comp sci or to even join the engineering section, but he was refused. Nevertheless the two became pretty good friends after that, and remained so after graduation for a while.

Years after there was an incident that broke Apollo's and Laurent's friendship apart, and not long after Laurent decided to quit teaching. He remained in his personal laboratory building things, though uninspired for a while. Then one day he got a request from the police head (?) to build two androids for them. At first Laurent was puzzled since they're supposed to use government made androids and robots and I guess not really supposed to use ones otherwise (?? This idea is a wip but something like this). But, he decided to go along with the request anyway. He built Lloyd and Leroy for them to use. Lloyd and Leroy were also kind of special to him in a way :0 He built them together and had the wish that the two would work well together. He installed a specific type of personality into each one, ones that he knew very well…

When he completed them and was about to send them off, Apollo dropped by unexpectedly; he caught wind of a rumor that privately built androids were being created for police, and the first thing he thought of was they had to be by Laurent. It turns out he was right. Apollo demanded to see them. Laurent tried to refuse him but in the end he had to comply; if he weren't going to get in trouble for defying Apollo's orders then he'd get in trouble for making androids for the police. Apollo then said he'll let this situation slide, but only if he'll take one of the androids for himself. Laurent tried to refuse this, since not only did the policeman request two androids, but he was wondering why Apollo would even want an android near him now (since there was that incident that made Apollo wary of robots and androids). Apollo states he has some certain police business of his own, and in the end, Apollo takes Leroy for himself. He leaves with him and Laurent feels exhausted all of a sudden  and felt powerless against his former friend. He wondered if the authority of his position was getting to his head. The spirited young adult he knew in college seemed to be barely there now in this older body.

Laurent does try to keep tabs on Lloyd whenever he could  by communicating with the policeman who requested him. He couldn't come into contact with Leroy and wonders how he is doing and what he's being used for. Laurent also wishes he could make amends with Apollo somehow and feels a little lonely without him. Aside from his creations, Apollo was pretty much his only human friend.

Extras:

  • He likes to have diamond shaped accents in his clothing and these show in his creations too, ex. The vests of Lloyd's and Leroy's clothing
  • His creations are way more advanced than the current robots and androids of their time, but he rather keep them to himself than to share it
  • He's perfected the humanlike look for his most recent androids (Lloyd and Leroy)
  • He has a Ph.D in robotic engineering and he was working on this and teaching at the same time. He could have been head of the engineering department at the school he worked in but for his own reasons he declined it.
  • He's a pretty talented artist too, though he mostly likes to sketch portraits. This is more of a hobby for him, but it's also a reason why Lloyd and Leroy look so realistic. Creating their facial features can be comparable to a person molding a clay bust.
  • He built Lance during his first years of teaching. However he gets separated from him when Lance was out exploring and Laurent suddenly moved to a different area within the city. They would reunite again eventually though.
