Mord reveals his grief at losing an old rival/lover, Lugh, who has the ability to reflect any magic aimed at him, including Mord's mindreading. When Lugh seemingly returns from the dead, Mord doesn't handle it very well.

Set during a chilly morning in late winter. Mordreaux has stopped by Namarast under the guise of being a messenger, sent there all the way from Faline, and Vilas chooses to accompany his acquaintance for safety reasons. The midday is approaching fast as two visitors descend down to the lowest levels of the Order's gaol, hoping to meet the noble turned murderer - Natalya Firebird.
