Personality


Hard-working: Ophe takes great care in what they do and are very proud of that. They always try to make the best potions possible and wont be contend with anything below their standards, which are very high to begin with. They carefully record and study the alchemy that makes these potions, so others with similar abilities can understand and learn from their mistakes. Ultimately, they wish to make others as proud of their work as they are.

Creative: When it comes to creative solutions to problems, Ophe is the one to talk to. They like to experiment and take different approaches to their work to reach the best and most efficient conclusion. This has helped them greatly to further their knowledge of their magic and to somewhat work through their anxiety. 

Sociable: With an innately outgoing and friendly nature Ophe likes to be the center of attention and thrives when interacting with people. They like to take part in festivities and just any social gathering. They have a keen ear when it comes to gossip and rumors and the difference between potentially helpful intel and hot garbage that people keep telling themselves to stay entertained. 

Curious: Their curiosity is what keeps them going and drives them to reach higher goals. Since they could not experience much as a child, they now still have the child like fascination with the world and its processes. This unsatiable curiosity often gets them in Situations that they cant handle and they often need someone to keep an eye on them so they don’t get lost, hurt or worse.

Cowardly: Ophe never was a fan of violence and is not a fighter at all. While they can handle themselves in an argument, they would rather give up and run away when it comes to physical altercations. This also includes helping others out when in danger. If there is a threat of physical violence, they will abandon people rather quickly. They despise this trait of themselves. 

Anxious: In high stress situations Ophe often feels like they are drowning and can’t handle their emotions well. It makes them shut down or flee a situation if possible. This makes them unreliable and basically a danger to others and themselves in certain scenarios. 

Hesitant: Ophe has issues with making clear decisions. Often they just live on a whim and do what they feel like doing, but making plans and sticking to them makes them feel anxious. Though over time they have gotten better with this, as the Sangre Mar have helped with planning and desensitizing them to the fear of making a decision, they still sometimes fall back into their old schemes.

Self-Destructive: Since they never learned to properly experience things and work through emotions, Ophe can be cold and dismissive towards of the feelings of others. They also get anxious for this very reason, but they like to think that they can handle themselves. In reality this can cause them to go into a spiral of overthinking and harmful thinking, which makes them very insecure and unable to progress with whatever work they have at the time.

History


  • Ophellias was born and raised in Sirigal 
  • They grew up rather unloved and they soon became aware of their powers, making them an even bigger target.
  • Ophe spend most of their life inside their family home or deep in the wilderness, where there were few people around.
  • Most of their childhood was spend collecting sounds, but they never lasted very long.
  • Soon, they found that alcohol and oil were a good base to make the sounds stay longer, also noticing the effects when drinking such a concoction. They started to write their findings in a journal and keeping it hidden from their family.
  • Once the first unrests became apparent in Sirigal, they liked to keep up with like minded individuals. Amongst them Enn Marren'Vik and his organization, which felt like a safe space to them. Ophe did not have to hide who they were and was actually appreciated for their abilities.
  • Once the War was on Ophe helped the Sangre Mar out with their potions, making them a real force to be reckoned with and ultimately taking part in the victory of the rebellion. It made them feel like they could accomplish great things with the Sangre Mar.
  • After the rebellion was over and the new state order was brought upon Sirigal, Ophe stayed for a bit and sold minor potions and remedies, while the rest of the Sangre Mar where hunting down the other royal family members. They were too scared to take part in the more violent actions of the group, but soon they realized that they missed being part of the organization and opted back in to help with things around Ivras.  
  • They are now living in Faline but travel quite often to gather more sounds for their potions.

Their magic carefully crafts, and weaves sounds into a useable, mostly gooey, or liquid form, imbuing various effects onto potions made with them. The strength of the effect is dependent on how they feel while casting their magic and the emotion and intent of the sound they try to craft with. They must be careful when crafting a potion because interference sounds can dampen the effects as well  As of now the effects of their potions are limited and the amount, they can produce is rather small. 
Effects include for now: Buffs of physical strenght (Anger), Healing (Love / Relief), Debuff of physical strenght (Sadness / Grief), Hightened Senses (Fear) and Calming emotions (Happiness)

  • With more disciplin they are able to differentiate sounds better and keep unwanted ones out. The potions itself as well as the effects of their potions last longer.
  • With more power the effects of the potions get stronger. 

Their Familiar takes the vague shape of a cat. They help with their fear or anxiety and keeping them calm during castings.

Costs 

  • Magic does not work or has no effect except under specific circumstances. If Ophe is unable to hear sounds, they cannot weave them into potions. Also their magic is rendered useless in loud and noisy environments.
  • Magic use consumes a valuable material. As a base for their potions high quality essential oils or alcohol are necessary. Without them the sound cannot stay liquid and just evaporates.
