Reuben
[ Brother ]
Gabriel's youngest sibling, who tags along with him whenever he can, and who always comes to Gabriel whenever he's feeling anxious about something or needs his reassurance. Though he hasn't told him (yet), he thinks Reuben is a bit too sensitive and hopes he will eventually toughen up as he gets older. In the letters he sends home from Vietnam he doesn't talk too much about what he's up to, wanting to give him the impression that "everything's fine" so he doesn't worry (or cry about it.)
Isabella
[ Sister ]
Though she is his sister he acts more like he's her father, something he feels like he "has to" do, because he sees her as a naive girl who is growing up way too fast, and gets herself into too much trouble. (Things their parents don't know about, but he doesn't want to "tattle" on her.) They argue and are angry at each other often, and part of him strongly believes she got involved with Luca just to piss him off. They have barely spoken to each other since his fight with Luca, and they only gave each other a very quick goodbye before he left for Vietnam.
Carlos
[ Cousin ]
Carlos is scum and that's all there is to it. Yeah, he's annoying, but even beyond that he knows he gets up to all kinds of wrong and illegal shit and he doesn't want to be associated with someone like that. Unlike everyone else, he doesn't think he should have to accept him "just because he's family," and he doesn't.
Frank
[ Fellow Soldier ]
For someone to be goofing off and making so many jokes in wartime was extremely off-putting to Gabriel, (not to mention how loud and obnoxious he was) and he didn't care too much for Frank when he first met him. But the more he got to know him he realized he's really a kind person at heart, and all the jokes are probably just his way of coping with their situation. Over time he feels comfortable opening up to him too, and considers him a true friend, despite all their differences.
Red
[ Fellow Soldier ]
Just another annoying loudmouth, the type of person he hates being around so he doesn't feel the need to get to know him. (Since he and Frank get along so well he has to wonder WHY Frank can't just be content with hanging out with Red and leave him alone then???)
Luca
[ Enemy! ]
Gabriel never understood what the hell Luca's problem was and why it seemed he was always trying to start shit with him, but he did his best to avoid him, hoping he would eventually leave him alone. But once he heard he had slept with his younger sister things got personal real quick, and it was something he just couldn't ignore.
Fernando
[ Enemy! ]
Gabriel has never really spoken to Fernando, but he finds his to be loud and annoying, and if he's a friend of Luca's then he obviously wants nothing to do with him and does his best to avoid him.
