Amihan is rather reserved, though her introverted tendencies don’t stop her from trying to go out and make friends at Monsuta Academia. She loves to explore in the forests surrounding the school, as they’re much different from the ones at her home, and she’s always excited by whatever she finds. Her closest friendship is with her roommate, Ayame, though some friction has recently risen between the two. Ami hopes that she’ll be able to resolve the tension by explaining the cause of the response that led to their current situation- that Amihan is intersex, and her appearance- which more closely resembles that of the males of her species- is a sore subject.

Amihan was born flightless, due to the fact that her wing feathers grow continuously and unevenly, but this wasn’t much of a problem on her island home, where there was little need to fly anywhere unless you were a villager tasked with hunting. Unfortunately, her village was soon forced to relocate to much harsher terrain due to humans, and Amihan’s parents realized that they would be unable to take care of her if she was to stay in the village. Luckily, though, a Xiao named Xiang Lin was passing through their town, and he agreed to take Amihan in. After some traveling, Xiang and Amihan settled on the remote end of an island whose opposite shore had a fairly large population of Ekek and other monsters. Amihan went to school in the village until her coloration began to resemble the colors that male Ekek sport. At that point, her insecurity over her appearance and her flightlessness made it impossible for Amihan to continue schooling, and she began doing online homeschooling. Xiang became a teacher at Monsuta Academia, and Amihan applied as soon as she was old enough to do so, hoping that her new schoolmates wouldn’t even notice that she didn’t look how she was supposed to.
