LIFE:

Azure Wing was found as an egg by a male and female dragon couple. Together, the two dragons took her in and raised her alongside their other, slightly younger, hatchling. Azure Wing does not and has never known of her biological parents, origin or family. Azure Wing's adoptive parents were extremely careful: dragons of all kinds were being hunted to extinction, and subsequently they made the dangers very clear to the hatchlings. The family spent the daylight inside their home; a dark yet vast cavern within the mountain side, and only dared to leave once the sun had set. A small herd of unicorns resided in the nearby forests and clearings beneath the dragons' home; in exchange for protection, they offered various fruits and foods from the surrounding woods. As a young dragoness, Azure Wing made friends with the herd leaders' colt, 'Prince Jack'. The two grew up alongside one another and remained friends into their adult years.

DEATH:

Azure Wing was killed by Arachne; a small dragoness that had attacked the unicorn herd below alongside a group of rogue dragons. Despite her death, Azure Wing was able to fatally injure Arachne in the process; assuring her death. Azure Wing's body was moved to the top of an ice-filled mountain and covered in colourful flowers by the unicorn herd for many generations to come. After many years had passed, only her skeleton remained, in which instance, beautiful azure-blue crystals began to emerge from and engulf her bones.

Hundreds of years later, now in a modern-day setting, Azure Wing's crystals were 'found' by an injured and exhausted female wolf. She was expecting a litter of pups and had been forced to rest upon the snowy mountain. Unknowingly, she made a nest above Azure Wing's crystals and had her litter only a few hours onwards. As the pups were born, the magic held within the crystals activated; bestowing a death-defying gift upon the young wolves. One of these young wolves would go on to begin a pack of their own as an adult: the 'Azura Pack'. They would then forever pass this gift onwards to their descendants, eventually leading to the current Alpha, Vixen, and her daughter, Nuala's, reign.

WORLD & TIMELINE:

Azure Wing lives in a fantasy/historic-esc world set in medieval times (specifically around 1400BC). During the time of Azure Wing's hatching, dragons were considered rare; gradually being hunted to extinction by human soldiers and/or knights from nearby kingdoms. Due to this, the once-solitary species grouped together in small clusters around the land- for protection. Many mythical creatures and species lived during Azure Wing's time; most of which were also hunted for their trophy-like features or status. Unicorns were often sought out by a nearby kingdom for their regal-like appearance; gryphon eggs were thought to have been invaluable; humanoid-like creatures were thought of as mennaces and abominations, and of course, dragons were hunted for their heads.

ABOUT THE DRAGONS:

Dragons came in all shapes and sizes; typically all being quadrupedal, scaled and winged. Individuals had differing biological diets and traits, usually dependant on their location of origin. A dragon's average lifespan varied greatly; if allowed, an individual could survive until they were 5000 years old; dragon sizes were typically dependant on their age;; the larger the dragon, the older you could assume them to be. Dragons were typically hunted for their status; their heads would usually be found mounted on castle walls. Common folk and residents of the various kingdoms viewed dragons as monsters; often writing tales about them destroying crops, killing livestock or slaying humans. These stories enforced the idea that dragons must be destroyed. These mythical creatures were otherwise well-respected by the majority of other mythical beasts that inhabited the surrounding land/world, even if said respect was based on fear.

DEATH & AFTERLIFE:

When a dragon in this universe dies, their body naturally decays until only their bones remain, in which instance the bones will begin to transform into unique crystal shards, said to hold magical abilities. All dragon crystals hold differing abilities and have unique ways of activating them when found.
