Believe it or not, it’s been almost a little over 2 years since I last made a new OC, so I finally decided to scrape up some creative juices and make another robot! Story still to be decided, I whipped up this design and named him Roy!
I was thinking about changing things up a little, and decided to go with more of an atomic-futurism aesthetic instead of my usual retro/cassette-futurism! I looked at a lot of atomic-era (1950s-1960s) animation that had robots/technology, and they were all usually monochromatic, clunky, had visible vents and buttons, and were usually silver or pastel. What if I messed around with those design elements and mixed them with my own personal art style?
While my other robot OCs typically have bodies that only use 1 or 2 colors maximum already, I still go out of my way to draw them in a multitude of colors in various outfits/environments; so I didn’t technically have a “strictly” monochromatic bot yet. Plus, I also didn’t have any OC with “rubber hose” styles/limbs either! So basically, I while I was designing Roy, I just felt like playing with ideas I haven’t yet! It was fun!
Update! I figured out his story! In his canon story line he got tricked into joining an-all-robot-run cult and that he ended up befriending the head leader to a point where he becomes a "right hand" of sorts until he learns the truth about the leader (his so called "friend") and has to fight and kill him and disband the cult. Edgy I know, but I love when cute things are also badass!
...and yeah he's very shy and anxious and of course he's VERY hella gay
