History
Still a wip, but Rydain used to be either a demon on the verge of death or a wraith who was forged into a blade by probably the Queen of Wraiths centuries ago??? Regardless which one, the result was a devil sword that is borderline unbreakable and can use dark magic at will, regardless of the wielder’s abilities. It can cut through nearly anything, buuuut it also absorbs the life force of both whatever it's cutting AND the wielder so maybe watch out for that if you don't feel like dying prematurely. Once he absorbs enough energy, Rydain can turn from his sword form back into his normal body at will, though he is lethargic even in that form until a certain quota is hit. Buuuut, ignoring the, y'know, rampent murder that would be necessary, it's in his wielder's best interest to get him into that form anyway if they are planning on prolonged usage since it's through close contact that he feeds off of them, which isn't necessary if he can move by himself. Also do it anyway because it's boring being stuck in sword form until the next random evil dude seeks him out and he wants to party. And murder. But mostly party.
ANYWAY, he was used often by the Queen's allies throughout the reincarnation cycles since he's immortal unless the sword is destroyed so it was just a matter of finding him again. And eventually being sealed away by Soleil & Friends(TM) until curious and stupid hands would break him out again. And repeat until Present Day where he'sssss either stuck in sword form somewhere after running out of energy Yet Again or is being used on Soleil's side this time, idk yet

Trivia
- His eyes are always kept closed until he’s drained enough energy that he’s completely revitalized, though that doesn’t impede his movement at all
- He gets his clothes from those who have used his sword to death and apparently evil sorcerers/swordsmen/etc all have a specific style of dress, huh. Because of that, Dain thinks this way of dressing is completely normal despite looking like he got lost on his way to the medieval goth rave
- He can summon his sword form separately to use in his anthro one, but it’s kind of exhausting honestly so unless there’s multiple people he’s fighting that he would drain enough lives to make up for it, he prefers to fight barehanded
- There’s 0 need for Dain to eat or drink but he likes to anyway because it’s fun
- Drained Dain and Completely Revitalized Dain are practically two different dudes and it’s always jarring for his wielder to see him go from Tired Stoic to ;DDDD without warning. For the record, he’s always at least mildly ;D on the inside
- Despite working with Soleil now, he is completely amiable with Clarissa since it was her past self who made him and all. Then again he’s also amiable with Soleil who’s sealed him away several times in past lives so maybe that doesn’t mean much
- He doesn’t actually care about anyone else though, his own enjoyment is always first and foremost
- If someone introduced him to the concept of professional sports, he’d be the type of guy who yells at the TV as if that’s going to help the players know what to do. Goth jock alignment

[ This kid ] She used to be an awful pain since she kept sealing him away from civilization but now she’s only a mild one since she keeps bothering him to help or whatever. But if she’s not going to wield him who cares lol he just wants more energy before he reverts to a sword again.
