Ambrose and Peregrine have been in a relationship for the past century. Ambrose would die for Peregrine. He would do anything for him, up to and including taking the blame for his crimes and hiding his shitty actions. He remembers how kind Peregrine was when they first met.
Peregrine and Ambrose have been in a relationship for the past century. Peregrine would kill for Ambrose. He is more focused on the future than on loving people in the present. He uses Ambrose to justify his actions and distract/fend off his enemies. It'll be worth it in the end when they're happy.
Clove thinks that his mom, Rosemary, is the coolest person in the world, and he wants to hang out with her more. He is acutely aware that he will never be what he's supposed to be, but he still tries to do right by his family.
Rosemary loves her child, Clove... in theory. She barely raised him, and she focuses more on her reputation than on him. She tries to be fun and cool around him, but ultimately, she usually ends up as a disappointed presence to him.

She's the one person who can tell what he's feeling no matter how he acts on the surface. (Their relationship can be either platonic or romantic, depending on how I (their creator) feel like portraying it in a given thing, but it kind of doesn't matter to their actual character dynamic because they love each other the same either way.)

Though the Apprentice is technically just her student, she holds a motherly affection for her. Truthfully, the Apprentice reminds her a bit of her younger self.
The Familiar is the Witch's oldest friend; she trusts him above all others, but still not enough to tell him about her life before the Woods.
