By nature, humans cannot see the supernatural or anything relating to it. Most of the world lives in blissful ignorance of the true nature of their world. Only those born or gifted The Sight can truly see, and while most choose to coexist and live in peace, there are a few who take on the mantle of protector, hunting down the supernatural creatures they deem dangerous; whether it's true or not.

Vampires are an ancient and dangerous species, with a diet consisting entirely of blood. They’re among the very few supernatural species with the ability to change humans and compatible species. Turned vampires are identified by the terrible scarring they receive from their bite that leads to their heart, signifying their new lack of humanity. Born vampires must have purely vampire lineage, and they’re far stronger and more threatening. Vampires are among the top species hunted, but their ability to turn others makes it so their numbers never dwindle.

Demons are inhuman beings that exist on an entirely different realm called Yzuhith'i Ui, and call Zuth’i Au their home. Lower Demons must be summoned to earth with something to anchor them there, they’re unable to traverse between realms of their own power. Upper Demons need anchors as well, but they may choose where they call home and travel between realms freely. Demons are forced into a facade of a human appearance, their true nature twisting and turning their insides, stabbing through the skin they use to blend in. It’s common to see a Demon with scars residing on their face from their horns growing out of their foreheads. Demons are commonly hunted but not commonly killed due to their unfathomable power and culture based on survival of the fittest.

Cupids are creatures formed from connections. Their society is tight knit, yet strict in their rules. This does not apply to gender expression, as Cupids have no concept of gender binary at all. Their very nature is to help in the creation and cultivation of relationships, aided by strings that only they may see, with their powers stemming from their eyes. Cupids are meant to have one blue eye and one pink eye, their iris’ shaped into the hearts they inspire. Cupids without the correct eye colours are shunned and fired. Cupids are completely invisible to those without Sight, no human-disguised appearance available for those who work so closely with human lives. It is taboo but not unheard of for hunters to kill Cupids.

Merfolk are underwater humanoid creatures that have a connection with the water they reside in. Their bodies are made to survive the harsh environments, but they also have the ability to shift their appearance and survive on land, blending in apart from a few features that make them stand out. Like other sea creatures, merfolk get larger and creepier the further down they’re found. Merfolk typically have special abilities related to the water, which means they are hunted along with other supernatural creatures, but more commonly they are kept on display as decoration for others entertainment.

Angels are inhuman beings that exist on an entirely different realm called Yzuhith'i Ui, though it is strictly forbidden to travel from Yith’i Tyhith’i Au, their part of the realm, to earth. Upper Angels create the rules, invoke the rules, and punish those unwilling to follow the rules. The only Angels found on earth are Fallen Angels, disgraced from their place in the skies. No place is stricter than Yith’i Tyhith’i Au, and no place more lonely. Fallen Angels are Lower Angels that couldn’t keep their place, and can be spotted by the halos that, once disgraced, are wrapped around their necks as though they were hanged. It is completely unheard of and prohibited for hunters to kill Angels.

Werewolves are those who have the ability to change from an entirely humanoid form into a wolf or animalistic like form. These animal forms are not entirely inline with normal animals, they are larger, more monstrous, more dangerous. Werewolves have a connect with nature, as well as the moon. Werewolves typically lose their sense of self upon a full moon, unable to control their shift, unless they have great control over themselves. Werewolves are among the few who have the ability to turn humans and compatible supernatural creatures, so they are commonly hunted but not commonly found due to their nearly seamless human appearance.

Shapeshifters are completely human looking creatures that have the ability to change their appearance into whatever living creature they should choose. They may even copy the traits of other supernatural creatures, though not their abilities. Shapeshifters are commonly credited as among the first of the supernatural, and are named at fault for the spreading of supernatural creatures. Following Witches, Shapeshifters are the most hunted creatures, despite their ability to seamlessly blend in with humans. The only way to catch a shapeshifter is to catch them mid shift. They are deemed to be a kill on sight creature by hunters.

Witches are humans with innate magic ability, which is commonly channeled through physical items. They have been hunted to near extinction, due to being blamed for supernatural beings existing at all.
Often, a Witches magic will outlive their lifespan. Such is the case with the dolls, who were enchanted to live by a Witch who they then outlived, by many centuries.

The Grim are technically a type of Demon, although much more powerful and rare. They exist on earth to reap souls, working as the guides of reincarnation.
Ghosts are only made from a Grim severely messing up, although that is extremely rare. There have only ever been a few ghosts made in all of history.
