Fleets of strange ships are making their way to Ivras, bearing enticing goods and mysterious strangers...

We are very excited to announce the Outlanders and Exotic Wares event and bring the bounty of foreign lands and ability to create new kinds of characters!

Outlander Species: In addition to the five native Ivras species (equine, bovine, suid, cervid, and camelid), players can now create Outlander characters and NPCs.  Outlander species encompass any other hooved ungulate (giraffe, okapi, tapir, elephants, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, to name a few), and must be between 3-20hh.  For more information on Outlander species, check out the Character Guide!

Outlanders are acquired by purchasing the Toy Boat item from the Shop. A 20 gold purchase will allow you to create one Outlander character, or a 50 gold purchase will give you permanent access to an unlimited number of Outlanders.

Spell Scrolls and Amulets: The Shop has more than doubled in size, making room for two new types of magic items. Scrolls are weak spells that give mages handy new tricks outside of their existing magic abilities, and cost 10 Gold apiece. Amulets are more powerful additions to you mage's arsenal, and cost 30 Gold each. Your character is able to collect them all!

Shop Art Updates: Prepare to say hello to Griselda, the new shopkeeper NPC! She is currently packing her ship to head to Ivras, where she will soon permanently reside to serve as a hub for all goods for sale!

As for the new item art... Desperish was busy, so Frank did his best. We're uhhhhhh working on it.


🎪 Prompts & Bonuses!
  • Story Prompts: Choose one of four prompts to follow and participate in the Exotic Wares event! Prompt responses earn double gold and an exclusive bonus at the end of the event! 
  • RP / Art Collab Prompt:  Through March, earn double gold for RP threads or art collabs following this prompt: Your characters encounter an item (of any kind!) from a foreign land, and simply must have it. What is it? How do they acquire it?
  •   Tag this character profile in your Event prompts to be added to the Gallery! 
 ⚓Outlander Adoptables

Contact with distant continents has brought Outlanders to stay in Ivras; these new people bring with them unusual magic and beautiful goods.

One of these mysterious strangers could be yours! Click here to see the available characters and view instructions.

To try out, type an application for the character you'd like to play, and post it in the comments on the character's profile; submissions will be judged based on their creativity and how well they mesh with the world of Anathema.

Auditions must be submitted on or before June 5. Winners will be announced June 6!

🔸⚓🔸 Non-Mage Story Prompt

In four corners of Ivras's coast, four small fleets approach. They are massive barks with sails unlike any native vessel of Ivras, and a spyglass would reveal that its sailors themselves are of a different land...

When these ships make port, your character finds themself at one of four locations: (The location you choose will not affect your prize; choose whichever place you like!)

  • The East coast adjacent to Namarast
  • The Northeastern cove where the Rithan Ocean meets the continent
  • The Faline delta to the mid-West
  • The Southwest coast of the Mirror Bay

For reasons of their own, whether curiosity or business, your character has arrived at one of Ivras's four coasts shortly after the arrival of the Outlanders. Groups of Ivratians have assembled at the docks, appearing to be taking part in some sort of demonstration. Upon closer inspection, your character recognizes their signs and chants: "NO MORE MAGES!" "REMEMBER THE WORM!"

Clearly the arrival of more mages from another place has incited anger in your fellow countrymen. What does your character do in response?

Prompt responses must be worth at least 1 gold (i.e. at least 100 words or at least an uncolored headshot).
Upload your response like any other art or literature submission and claim your gold; collect double your total count for prompt responses.

Your fellow Ivratians have gathered to ooh and ah. They are individuals of strange shapes and sizes, but one thing is for certain: they are mages, make no mistake. In fact, many of them seem to be fairly liberal with their magic. As one of the crates threatens to break from its rope, one of the Outlanders conjures a massive, magical hand to catch it. This is a very public display of considerable power, and the crowd starts to murmur and grow uneasy.

What does your character do?

  1. Your character, taking pity on (or fearing) these mages who may be unfamiliar with your country's austerity, steps up to assist them in a more discreet, non-magical fashion. (+1 Discipline)
  2. Your character, inspired by such brazen power, jumps in to assist the Outlanders using their own magic.  (+1 Power)
  3. Your character begins cheering for the Outlanders, but remains safely hidden within the crowd, drawing no attention to themself. (-1 Cost)
  4. Your character is repelled by the newcomers and uses whatever means they can -- magical or otherwise -- to incite further discontent among the crowd at the docks. (+1 Corruption)
