Your mage knows their pursuers will be violent if they discover your character's hiding place; whether they stay or flee, they must remain stealthy and silent. The Witchfinder doesn't relent until darkness comes to conceal your mage's escape.
From their hiding place, your character hears the accused hidden mage cry out as they are dragged away. Their pleas for help fall on deaf ears.
