✒️ Writers' thread ✒️

Posted 6 years, 11 months ago (Edited 6 years, 8 months ago) by castra

I didn't see a thread like this and figured it'd be nice to have some sort of chillout chat for writers! ; v ;

Talk about your current writing projects, your stories, planning, plotting, whatever as long as it's even vaguely writing related!
Anyone who identifies as a writer is more than welcomed; there is no strict definition for the word or anything!

Here are also some questions to start things off:
✒️ Who are you?
✒️ How long have you been writing?
✒️ Your preferred languages in writing?
✒️ What kind of things do you write / enjoy writing?
✒️ Favourite genres for your own stories?
✒️ Any current writing projects?

And some rules, just to make sure this thread will stay nice for everyone!

✒️ Make sure to be polite and nice to each other
✒️ No vagueposting about other users or people in general; let's keep the negativity in vent threads!
✒️ Don't attack / insult other people's interest / favourite genres etc. Discussion is good and disagreements happen, but attacking and insulting are hardly a respectful way of communication.
✒️ Preferably keep things SFW and black out sensitive / upsetting / NSFW-ish content like this

@beautiful-madness it looks good so far!  I'm loving the character art and environments so far.  Also those colour palettes are to die for <3

dearalese

@beautiful-madness I love the characters and the colors! So amazing!

dearalese thanks heh, I'm only on chapter two so far since things have been going pretty slow but I might share something there sometime soon.

I've started school which I first thought would slow it down even more but thankfully writing counts for it so I'll probs actually get things done now. Been planning to stop dragging along and just shove forward for a while. I'm writing my first actual fight scene which is at least starting well, so that's better progress than before.

ok so I just need some advice—some of my stories have stories I really like and definitely want to write out, but they have a majority of characters I didn't make, and am mostly not allowed to do commercial work with, so I was wondering if I should just write the stories out but not mention the physical descriptions/designs of the characters or just not make them commercial and use them more as writing practice to make my stories/chapters/etc. better/longer? bc tbh I'm leaning towards the latter...

Caine

@teddy-bear Both are options, but I feel like the latter will be easier for you I guess. I mean you could always ditch their designs and create your own (since with adopted designs etc it's not like the designer own the character, just the design), but at least I tend to feel so bad about that I'll just admit to myself it's easier to use them for strictly non-commercial stuff instead :')

im trying to write my bios, but it's going really rough.. im not really good at description writing and im just kind of stuck. i just dont want to post pages that arent even halfway written, but i also dont like having everything unlisted/private

dearalese

misubito pop over to my page and take a look at my Bios. I kept them really simple but still gave enough information to call it a bio. It took me a really long time to flesh them out and I had at least three word documents for biography building. If you need any help feel free to ask!

misubito

dearalese thanks for the examples! im just having problems because since my ocs are all really domestic (none of them have any powers or tragic backstories or anything theyre just a bunch of dorky college students) so its kind of difficult to write backgrounds/histories and stuff

Caine

I got a really bad cold to the point it's messing with my head (I couldn't recall the name of some of my OCs, which never happens and means this is Serious) yet I'm ITCHING to write and proceed with my stories ;; It sucks how writing inspiration always strikes when you're unable to write, and when you CAN write you're just not feeling it.

Anyway I'm kind of just bumping this thread with this message haha. How is everyone doing with their works right now? Excited for nanowrimo getting closer?

I know the feeling.  I get my best ideas/inspiration while I'm out at work or uni and unable to act on them, and when I finally get home I'm so tired there's no motivation to write any more!  Very frustrating!

Because work has been so busy I've fallen behind on my writing in the past week.  Buuut I'm pretty happy with the overall workload I've done during my summer holiday this year.  I've just been sticking to 20 minutes of writing per day, and that's a perfect balance for me.  I can get 400-500 words written every day without it eating up too much of my day.  I hope I can keep it up when uni starts again in a couple of weeks.
