like. you know when your writing and youre like 'hey would it make sense for this character to wear this outfit' but then somehow it ends up with you 6 feet deep in ancient greek fashion and customs . or sometimes its just 'how much and how effective would gasoline be to burn down a whole office building please im not an arsonist im just writing'

ANYWAYS i really like hearing about weird things people have researched for oc/writing stuff, just know that if it's something sensitive, black it out like this or put it under a spoiler tag
both the above are things ive done and lemme tell you. the gasoline thing wouldnt work irl but who cares it looks COOL in the story, or at least thats what i like to think. also i cant draw ancient greek outfits so im still here with one of my characters wearing period-inaccurate clothing

x_x I can't remember strange things I've searched but I remember having to research about online school... I heard of it in the West but we don't have it here... It's for this OC of mine who's obsessed with computer but still very smart... I think it fits him better than homeschooling...
Which taught me abt how different American school system is... It's confusing...
Also things about medicines and drugs. I never studied or liked medical, my OCs are to blame for things like this...

It was for my main RP bc most of the characters are immortal & don't keep it in their pants so I have to keep track of everyone's lineages. I did find a really helpful reddit thread + hesitantly settled for 12-15 generations
Def not that strange compared to the rest of the thread but I wanted a Playstation console motif on my OC without it being a direct gijinka so I literally am googling..... "are playstation buttons copyrighted" right now. Yes.
"What kind of environment would allow a centipede to grow up to 6 feet long" followed up by "flora and fauna of carboniferous Earth", "can animal venom give similar symptoms to meningitis" and "how to treat meningitis" all for a sci-fi fic I'm currently writing.
I needed a venom that'd give symptoms similar to an existing illness and that was the rabbit hole I ended up going down.
I've also done loads of climate science research around carboniferous Earth (including "could humans survive on carboniferous Earth" and "what would weather be like on carboniferous Earth") for that particular plot since the planet the characters end up at has those sorts of atmospheric conditions.
The most suspicious one would probably be ‘powerful bomb diy’ and lots of research with different wording,, idk why it hadn’t crossed that there wouldn’t be many guides about how to make powerful bombs lol. It’s for my short movie in production 👀
