Posted 3 years, 4 months ago (Edited 1 year, 6 months ago) by BIRD

Have a certain video, tv show, movie, short or game thats on the tip of your tongue, or that youve been trying to find but can’t seem to find any info on it? I’ve been there! If so, this is the thread for you!

Share your mysteries to others, or help others with finding stuff about that specific media! I’ve always had a huge passion with this type of stuff so I’d love to help if I find anything of use!

can be super recent, can be super old. Can be a YouTube video, or it can be a tv show, movie, or a video game! ANYTHING.

god I’ve been meaning to make a thread like this for a while but I always forget to :( . This thread is heavily inspired by r/tipofmytongue and blameitonjorge (he makes a ton of lost media discovery videos! Go watch em if you’re interested in that stuff, it’s REALLY interesting and well made! Prob one of my favorites so far atm).

strobelite Nope, definitely not the Jetsons. Could've been a Hanna-Barbera cartoon with more realistic artstyle but on the whole I think it looked more along the lines of Thundercats, Captain Planet and other such things in terms of how it was drawn.

EDIT: I think I found it! Someone added a relevant entry to tvtropes about the one with artificial gills - seems to have been an animated Flash Gordon series, gotta check. Also I had a look on 1980s cartoon openings and kinda lost hope of finding the "opening starts from orbit" one since half of them seemed to fit the bill. XD

DeepSeaShark That's a long shot (since it's not really something I'd show to elementary school kids) but "Soul Music" based on Terry Prattchetts' book by the same name had a falling carriage and probably had ghosts as well (since one of the main characters is the anthropomorphization of Death). If not, then "Wyrd Sisters" (also based on a Terry Prattchett book, by the same animation company with the same style) definitely had ghosts though may have been lacking in the "falling carriages" department.

@H00DIE yeah that looks like it! thanks a ton!

Cliodna hmm i skimmed through it bc I was leaving to get food and it doesnt seem like the thing i watched But I’ll probably sit down and watch it fully when i have time, even if its not I’ll watch it anyway bc I like some of prattchetts stuff (at least some of the movie adaptions, havent read many of the books) if it is and they showed that in elementary school I wouldnt be surprised since i‘ve heard people being showed worse (as in not school appropriate) in school 🤔

This one is actually a specific episode! There was this Spongebob episode I saw as a kid that scared me a lot and made me stop watching the show altogether. It was about this rumour that if you leave your tongue out for long enough it would fall out or something. There was a fish who’s tongue actually dried up and fell out and I think that is what scared four-year-old me most.

DeepSeaShark Go for it. I think the cartoons are probably a bit of an acid trip if you've not read the books first. That said, the cartoons are still an acid trip even if you have read the books but at least you can appreciate how close to the source material they've kept for the most part (the voice-acting and animation takes getting used to tho). And good luck finding that cartoon with the fallen carriage, now I'm curious about it as well.

Cliodna ofc! I really enjoyed the live action terry prattchett stuff (hogfather and I think going postal ??) so I'm sure I'll enjoy the animated one, and thanks ^^; I can't find it anywhere online but I dont think my mind made that up, I'm sure I'll find it eventually

JOYSTARII I remember an episode like this, though not entirely!

The episode Face Freeze seems to be the most likely candidate in terms of "falling off", though it's more the fact that the characters make funny faces for too long and their faces freeze with the "funny face" they've made. (Of course, it being Spongebob, it's horrifying instead of funny. It's a Season 8 episode too, so that not only fits your age range but also fits the scary aspect as well.)

There's also another episode, Pickles, where Bubble Bass' tongue is pulled out. There's also the episode Karate Choppers where Sandy tries to put deadly hot sauce on Spongebob's tongue and he fully pulls it out, revealing it to be a novelty toy. (x)

Otherwise, I can't think of any other episodes. (I think I stopped watching around 2012, so Season 8 is maybe the last one I watched.) There's a lot of obscure moments outside of the first 4 Seasons that are scary for younger children. (But the Slash Slinging Slasher is probably one of the scarier episodes for the ending - And SB-129 because it's... weird.) I think maybe searching more through the Spongebob Wiki will help you, however! Just keep in mind that there are 12 Seasons, and knowing how old you were when you possibly saw the episode will help a lot! (Keep in mind that reruns exist.)

When I was in preschool (2008-2010), every year we'd watch this Christian movie about this kid who was an angel. Someone was telling him the Christmas story from the Bible, but I can't remember who that character was (he was definitely a dude though). I also can't remember the name of the kid. It might've been Charlie or Charles or something, but I'm not sure. I remember this one scene, and it kinda went like this.

*Shot of Mary and Joseph outside of an Inn*

The angel kid: *pops up out of nowhere* but there was no room, right? (or something along those lines, I last saw this movie over a decade ago and I was like four, don't expect me to remember these things)

Disembodied voice: Good job!

I also remember a shot with all the characters in a car, and I'm 98% sure the movie was in CGI. I've been looking for it for years and I can't find it. If anyone knows what it might be, I'd really appreciate it!

Not a show or movie, but a video game.

It was a Nintendo DS game I’d say anywhere around 2010-2013, basically the game is where you ran your own zoo. I used to love this game until I lost it in,, any ideas?

Edit: I think I found the zoo game,, but there was an online horse game I also forgot the name of, basically you took care of your horse, you could buy things for your house in the bazaar, and there was like this minigame with like a story quest thing idk. The other thing was the game had trading cards of the different horses that you could buy in real life. Any leads would be helpful :DD

Hmm, could you be thinking of Bella Sara? That's the only horse-related online game I know that had physical cards you could buy in real life!

I think that’s it!! Thank you so much! :0
