I'm currently reviewing a change in our fandom character ruleset in light of feedback regarding fandom characters. To clarify, our current rules do not disallow upload of fan-characters as long as the canon permits derivative content, the characters are correctly credited, and all fanart is being used with permission. The reason being that up until now I haven't minded this platform being used for fandom RP.
I'm up for changing the site rules if fandom characters are a nuisance, but just wanted to verify since there seems to be some confusion: do people want both canon characters and derivative characters banned, or just canon characters? Where these are defined as the following:

+1 for creating a filter for non-carbon copy fan characters
carbon copy meaning 100% the same design. with no changes in species, etc. exactly the same.
vampyric Well, this thread is pretty messy. But the original topic is what I was referencing, which is kind of what we need to stay on top of.
I don’t personally believe a filter will fix it. It’ll just make it easier for people to find and bother content creators of parody designs. As well as report the designs.
I'd disagree with filtering fan ocs. I don't own any and I'm not particularly interested in seeing them, but if seeing them bothers you so much that you need to FILTER them, then i'd say you just need to get over yourself and grow up. Seeing someone elses fan character does you no harm...
either way, that's not the point of this thread
ban canon and explicit redesigns.
ive never seen 'Characters that're described as an OC or sona but resemble the canon character in both personality and appearance or cosplay them 24/7' but ban those too.

I agree with the others about the filter thing, and yeah, I disagree with having a filter because it just won't be very helpful imo, considering that blocking characters is already a thing. (Also agreeing with Jayden)
Now that things are starting to get a little more heated, I'll have to say that this thread was only created as a feedback box, NOT a thread to start causing fire here and there. Me and others have already said this, but can we at least chillax and stop throwing insults at each other?

+1 to what jayden said. a filter fixes nothing and would eventually just be useless when you can already block characters you don't want to see.
