I'll start with one of my most obvious ones; Adder got his face scar during one of his first assassination jobs. In previous jobs, his targets had always been asleep when he found them. This time, his target was wide awake and aware. Adder hesitated to kill him, giving the man time to whip out a knife and slash him across the face. The target ultimately escaped unscathed.

Anyway, so I think scars are cool. They can tell interesting stories. They add something to character designs that makes you want to know more about them.
Share any characters of yours who have scars here, and if you want to, explain how they got them! If describing anything gory/violent in explicit detail, or anything you think is potentially triggering, black out your text or use a spoiler tag.
Scars don't have to actually be visible in the character's art to count! As long as you know they exist.

Faulkes is covered in scars. Most of them come from the many general hazards of a life at sea, but there are a few notable exceptions. Don't think there's anything too inappropriate, but I'll hide them under a cut just in case.
The scars crossing over his face occurred upon finding out that his shipmates were smuggling illicit substances in whale oil barrels, and he was subsequently tied up, drugged, and beaten. A few good punches to the face and someone's ring just happened to catch his cheek. He's also got a few whip scars on his back from being flogged for insubordination during his time on the glorified pirating vessel The Patrick Harris... along with plenty of scars from those years raiding merchant ships as a privateer.
Plum got her scars when she was little. The world she lived in was trapped in an endless winter, driving most animals feral and the life expectancy of most residents was only 40. She was 6, trying to find some wood to make a fire with some other kids from the village when a massive Hawk began to attack them. She got the brunt of the attack being the weakest and having no special abilities. She lived but was fully blinded in one eye and left with scars over most of her face.
This made the adults think she was even more worthless and thus began her downward spiral of self-consciousness.
Soren is my main character with scars! Spoilered for mentions of abuse.
They all come from his cousin Samael hating him and always trying to hurt him and get rid of him out of jealousy. He has plenty of scars all over his arms and torso and then his spectra arm reflected those scars. He hates them so he's always keeping them covered.
He doesn't have any art that shows it, but Armin has a fairly long scar across his right side, just below the ribs. It was inflicted by a bull horn when he was seventeen. Basically, he was being a dumbass and decided to jump onto the bull's back and try to ride it. Of course, it threw him off immediately, slicing his side in the process.

While it's not visible in the photo, Megumi here has a very large scar that runs from under her shoulderblades all the way down her back. She got the scar when she was attacked as a child.
Spoiler in case of trigger warning (nothing truly explicit or anything, but if you're sensitive even when things are implied, don't open the spoiler)
She was sold by her father to a brothel as a child, to help him gain intel on the owners. Obviously, horrible things I won't mention happened to her while she was there. Eventually, the owners of the brothel found out Megumi had been sent as a child-spy, and sent to kill her father. They then slashed her whole back open as punishment for her 'betrayel'. It took a very long time for her to be able to walk again. It left the massive scar on her back.
elowen's right arm is a wood and vine prosthetic. she lost it in a forest fire.
she got trapped under burning debris she couldn't push off, and had to cut her arm off to escape and live.
so she has a big burn scar on that shoulder/where the prosthetic connects.
raijin had scars from being a sailor of 40 years - as well as losing HIS arm too - but that's been reversed with a wish ring that made him 20 again.
nooli has a brand from her warlock patron.
eri has a scar along her hip, from an unfortunate ship accident.
eana just has a bunch of scars from being a pit fighter.
eltana has a scar around her left thumb - where it connects? it's from where a mother bit down when she was giving birth. (eltana is a midwife.)
Again, no art that shows it, but Sandra has a thin scar on the back of her neck that's usually hidden by her hair. She never wears her hair up for that reason.
TW for domestic abuse:
She used to have an abusive boyfriend. When she told him that she was breaking up with him, he pulled out a knife and slashed at her in a rage. She escaped without worse injury by the intervention of two friends.
I'm not really sure if it's really a scar or a scab but Zachary has this large injury that covers a good portion of the left side of his face, his left arm stub, left torso, and a bit of his right hand. It's there because of a time during a big battle of the story where his brother went wackadoo crazy and splashed him with acid. He had to apply antibiotics to that area for a good long while. He hasn't gotten skin grafts there and he doesn't really care as the scabbing doesn't matter all that much to him anymore. The scab still hasn't healed on its own.
Taka is COVERED in scars, all either from people trying to kill him or ambushes. He's gone through everything, from getting shot at to someone putting tigers in his office! But somehow he's managed to survive each time, even if he's been knocking on Death's door some of those times.
He likes to show them off, hence never wearing a shirt. It's his way of telling people, "If you want to kill me you'd better be better than the last group."
