Character Scars

(If there's already an active thread for this, let me know. I don't think I've ever seen one.)

Anyway, so I think scars are cool. They can tell interesting stories. They add something to character designs that makes you want to know more about them.

Share any characters of yours who have scars here, and if you want to, explain how they got them! If describing anything gory/violent in explicit detail, or anything you think is potentially triggering, black out your text or use a spoiler tag.

Scars don't have to actually be visible in the character's art to count! As long as you know they exist.

Post as many times as you like, though do try not to fill up entire pages with just your posts.

Henri DuMaurier Kirbygal

Henri has a scar on his face; there's a visible one on one side of his lip and an hidden one under the eyepatch. It's from when he got attacked by a sharp object trying to protect someone (more in spoiler) ;;

Henri's adoptive father (who's a surgeon) used to be part of an organization that deals with black market organ trading and ever since adopting Henri, the surgeon wanted to get out of that and in a way reset his life. But the org. wouldnt let him go that easily; they pretended to lay low to give the surgeon a false sense of security and then attacked when he least expected it. Henri tried to save him so at one point he jumped in front of the surgeon to try and shield him and that's when he got attacked.

Trade Jules

Danté got his eye scar when he tried to flee his absolutely awful, abusive home.

Scarlet flashback

Scarlet is a gal fighting a 3 way gang turf war, and while she was trying to flee in her car she ended up getting into an accident and lost her arm in the process, so she was given a cybernetic arm. Under her sleeve near the base of her shoulder you can still see a bunch of scars that is from where the wound was stitched

Zach RadiantRaindragon

Zach has a scar across the side of his neck. He refuses to explain to anyone how he got it (which is a cover-up for the fact that I haven't decided myself yet).

Nathan 'Jonna' Phantas twistedturnip

The nice big obvious scar across his face from when half his soul was torn out of his dying body and his nervous system was rewritten with magic to birth his undying nature

Honestly, my favourite OC's scar to talk about is Alice's! It's not visible since she hides it under her hair, but she has a thin scar running across her eye. People always ask her what she hides under her hair, and if they saw her scar and ask her about it, she'll never respond or just shrug.
While she sword-fights and knows how to fence, the reason she got her scar was that she was scratched by a residing house cat when she wasn't even in primary school. Hemma regrets it, but what's done is done. Luckily it didn't blind her or scar too badly, but it attracted a lot of attention when Alice was younger.

Neo's scars are more prominent! The one across his chest almost killed him when he tried to assassinate someone, but was caught in the act. It turned into a sword fight, and he was tricked and was attacked. He did manage to finish the job, and almost died, but luckily someone from the clan found him. The one on his right arm was dealt by an enemy assassin who tried to kill Eiko.

Shun ☀ the haze layers paperflesh

Shun got those wide scars on her face after meeting the desert bandits, they set the desert dogs on her.

And Braam was a test subject who was used as a brute force for betting on fights without rules.

TW for Self Harm and Violence

Abel held a deep hatred of who and what he was, as well as participating in blood-letting. The scars on his arms, hips and inner thighs are self inflicted.

The scars across his throat, as well as a hard to see puncture in his back come from a time he was nearly murdered.
A knife in the back, and teeth to his throat (werewolf/anthro attacker).

Rex RadiantRaindragon

Rex has a ton of scars... Most aren't really shown since he hides them, but I'll list off a few.

TW for child abuse:

He has many scars from being abused by his grandfather, the one who raised him. There's a scar across the bridge of his nose from being slashed with a knife, as well as numerous scars (mostly faint) across his back and shoulders from being whipped/beaten with various things.

TW for self-harm:

He has several crisscrossing scars on the inside of his left forearm. He even has a few on his hands that were also self-inflicted, hence why he wears gloves a lot.

Perhaps the saddest thing about all of this is that Rex is a vampire - a species that can't get scars. That means all of his scars are from his human life. He was Turned at the age of 29, so that's... not a very long time to accumulate the number of scars he has.

i thought about showing off her mom, but...... here's Odette. she got stabbed just above the tiddy. shot, rather, but still left a scar. this is all thanks to her brother hiring hitmen on her. how fun.

his biggest scar over his chest and left shoulder was from his father, who beat him w/ a broken glass beer bottle. he's got a big scar on his right forearm from the same thing when trying to defend himself, and he's got a lot of little scars in lots of other places (main ones coming to mind being on his jaw, and across his neck, just from being a dumbass (courtesy of rahart)

kiyung: (TW child abuse)

both his wrists are scarred all the way around, and are a couple of millimetres ... indented? i suppose? if that makes sense. from constantly having his hands bound for hours at a time as a child as punishments for stepping out of line (which included minor things like talking out of turn)

erik:

he's littered in little scars, mainly from fishing! being caught w/ the hook from his rod or accidentally cutting himself w/ the pointy bits of lures (so mainly his hands/arms from that)
he's also got a big scar on his side above his hip where he accidentally shot himself while trying to apprehend a dangerous criminal. bc he was stubborn and didn't want to go to the hospital he dug it out himself so the scar looks a whole lot worse than it probably should've been

roman:

stab wounds, bullet wounds - that's just kinda how it be when u deal w/ shady characters sometimes

TK:

despite looking like a greek statue (well... he's meant to lol my art doesn't do him justice AT ALL), he's got a lot of acne scars on his face if u were to look closely :0 he had full pizza face in his early teens

alistair:

has a handful of self harm scars, most have faded tho

Viktor also has, uh, a lot of scars.

Warning for: Gore, abuse, murder attempts, self-harm

- Got 3 fingers cut off after his ex tried to murder him. Honestly he's glad that it only were three fingers - she had a katana and aimed to cut off his arms.

- He got his facial scar when he somehow managed to disarm his ex. She then grabbed a bottle and hit his head with it. The glass shattered. after it did, his ex cut him again, causing the scar.

Unrelated to the attack:

- Got a blade stuck in his shoulder after a fight. Ouch.

- Has numerous self-harm scars on his arm. . He still self-harms, although it has become far better (going from weekly to...just about every one or two years) over the last few years (especially after seeing that his youngest son is still alive. Somehow).

- Multiple cut wounds he got in fights
