Do you have any characters whose design(s) were inspired by fictional characters? Like a cartoon character, book character, movie, etc. I'd love to see and know why you chose to make a design inspired by them!
I find that making OCs inspired by favorite fictional characters just makes me love them so much more. I have a few:
Kara, who was unintentionally inspired by Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender (friends pointed out the color scheme and name similarity so I kind of just went with it), who prompted me to make Zakari, who was then inspired by Zuko from ATLA as well. There's also Skye and Diego, who were inspired by Star and Marco from Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. Lyam and Dalila were loosely inspired by Adrien and Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug.
I'd love to know if anyone else has fun making "inspired by" characters as well!
finx sort of is; mainly some of his personality and background! i created him before i discovered the character, so the design isn’t relative.
his time period ( mid 1700s ) and personality were both slightly based off of a mix of characters from the book “the scarlet pimpernel”! reading the story honestly helped me develop a range of my characters.
finx, in particular, took inspiration off of percy blakeney more than any other character
Seras was originally inspired by Seras Victoria from Hellsing (Ultimate) :D
I changed a lot about her over time though and now they only share their first name and being a vampire 😁
ive been playing a videogame called the long dark when it was in really really early access, at the time, there was no real story or characters, so my alexia (orignally named scarlet, ironically) was based off the players voice lines in the game, which were verry barebones at the time, and shes drifted far from her original iterations, but i still linger the snow aesthetic and the themes of survival and loneliness.
Prince Kenneth’s storyline and character were roughly based on Hamlet. Other of his traits and family relations were inspired by Zuko. It’s such a weird combination that works so well for maximum pain
Rosebubble's attitude is based loosely off of Spinel from Steven Universe : The Movie. Her original design was noodly like Spinel, but then I changed her to be more buff.
I've largely based Robi off Zidane Tribal from Final Fantasy IX but added in a lot of steampunk guns and technology from the Vinci from Rise of Legends.
