Inspired by Wanda Maximoff and the wicked witch!
Do you have any characters whose design(s) were inspired by fictional characters? Like a cartoon character, book character, movie, etc. I'd love to see and know why you chose to make a design inspired by them!
I find that making OCs inspired by favorite fictional characters just makes me love them so much more. I have a few:
Kara, who was unintentionally inspired by Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender (friends pointed out the color scheme and name similarity so I kind of just went with it), who prompted me to make Zakari, who was then inspired by Zuko from ATLA as well. There's also Skye and Diego, who were inspired by Star and Marco from Star Vs. The Forces of Evil. Lyam and Dalila were loosely inspired by Adrien and Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug.
I'd love to know if anyone else has fun making "inspired by" characters as well!
A lot of my OCs have at least some traits from fictional characters I like, I have a few characters inspired by the movie The Warriors, Yorkie, Marlin and Santiago, though they're not inspired from any one character in particular I did base their group dynamic off of the character archetypes from the movie and there are a few other members I still need to write profiles for who are also based off the loose archetypes of the group.
Donnie was originally going to be a DnD ranger who had a large vulture as his companion animal and used a sword which would have made him a lot closer to the character who inspired his appearance, Vicious from Cowboy Bebop, though I liked him enough that I turned him into a Cyberpunk TTRPG character instead and in the process he became more of his own character. Likewise, another one of my Cyberpunk TTRPG characters, Costello was based off the protagonist from Le Samourai, a French 60s film, he's probably the closest in terms of looks to the character which inspired him especially since his FC is Alain Delon, the actor who plays the character, but he's also my game DM's favourite actor so I think I can get away with it :P
Quill here was inspired by Ruber from Quest for Camelot. Specifically the video I linked. He would've become more similar to him if I hadn't found of about covert narcissism while researching the grandiose version. While further developing him I also got inspired by Catra from She Ra, since I was watching it at the time and was (still am) lowkey obsessed with her.
He was inspired by Vonel from Papers Please, but he has changed a lot since then!
I never talk about it because it embarrasses me but! I have a little handful of ocs that started out as a loose or not so loose interpretation of a canon character.
Akira and Mukuro started out as AU versions of Hibari Kyoya and Rokudo Mukuro from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Dejan and Henrietta started out as loose modern interpretations of Diego Brando and Hot Pants from Steel Ball Run (JJBA Part 7)
originally an "what if i had designed ahsoka tano" but then i realized the design and colors were not like ahsoka at all and made her an oc instead!
The initial spark of inspiration for Crake came from the character of the same name from Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake, but once I got into their personality and stuff they shifted into more of a Floofty Bugsnax derivative!
Arch is someone inspired by an old game, Baroque I believe. While I didn't come up with him back then, I always wanted an arch angel inspired character from it, even though I believe I only watched a couple of videos on youtube about the game. While he isn't one technically himself, Arch does have some abilities that I know other angels have. His full story is yet to be told.
