idk if it's just me, but are there any jokes about one of your characters you made canon? like, for example i made a lot of jokes about pearl being an uwu pastel blogger but then actually ended up putting that in her character because, why not
heck, a joke i had ended up fixing a plot hole regarding two characters so sometimes making fun of your characters .... works
Rielle's whole character has been formed around jokes honestly. My fiancee and I bought 2 adopts, Ainsley and Irwin, off of an artist we both really liked. They were from the same batch so we decided to make them a couple, roleplayed them, made a whole story around them taking place in the 1920s, the works.
Fast forward a few months and the same artist comes out with a batch of adopts we both really like, and each of us end up buying one, mine being Rielle, thinking we could do the same thing with them as we did with the last characters. But we were really attached to the world we had going, and these 2 were wearing pretty modern clothes (especially Rielle) so they didn't exactly fit in and we'd have to change their outfits and do some redesigning if we wanted to, and we liked them as they were. I made a joke about them being Ainsley and Irwin's reincarnations so that we could technically keep rping the same characters in a modern setting, and the whole thing was honestly ridiculous because a) that's a terrible plot device and b) Rielle and Ainsley had literally nothing in common from their looks to their personality and likes.
And then we did it. And it weirdly worked.
Their world is a super-powered universe, so when discussing what powers they had I joked that she had the touch of death because it sounded so stupidly melodramatic. And... now she does. We joked about her bumming off of Virgil, Irwin's reincarnation, because he's wealthy and has the space, and her having difficulties finding a job with her "touch of death" label, and we did. Basically every stupid comment or joke we've made about her has made it into canon. And I absolutely love her, I'm so attached. I've gotten more art commissioned of her than any of my other characters so far, including Ainsley. Sometimes not thinking too hard about what makes the most sense, or getting too serious about your plotting is the best thing you can do. Making fun of your own characters and making silly jokes can be a lot of fun!
His entire existence and concept started from a joke. My friend typed ":): - the duality of a man" during a convo in one of a group chat and I was like, hey, holy shit, that's actually a really cool idea, let's make an OC out of that. And boom, Ringleader is born. An asshole who messes with people and joke around like a clown, but also a deadass overpowered ruler of the underworld? Hell yeah. Anyways, bless that friend. They're great.
This one's a bit dark, but there's also Storyteller. In one of their alternate verses where another demon took them instead, I joked about that they lost their eye because said demon stepped on them with knife boots on. My friend approved of it and now that's canon in that verse.
I was talking how she looked like she'd go with Shia and Aihs but was probubly older then them. Maybe not THE magical force but one of if not the oldest beings in existance. (Shia was always adament about being the oldest/creator of all)
So a few things we joked about that stuck:
Her name. A fallen angel calls this magical force 'Will Be'. She over heard him and assumed he must mean her because...
She has terrible memory and assumes she has done or created things she may not have. Like if a resturaunt moves she assumes she must have made it move or disappear. If something nature wise is, she must have done it even if she doesn't remember.
She created Shia, but he is very adament about not knowing who she is and insisting he madr himself.
Ryn's fantastic vocal ability and penchant for phone sex is a reference to an episode of the BBC comedy series Black Books where one of the main characters becomes incredibly smitten by some guy's (apparently) Extremely Sexy Voice. Back in the early days of Ryn's existence I was talking to my friend about "hey what do you think Ryn sounds like" and for some reason we decided it would be hilarious if, in striking contrast with his short and mediocre appearance, Ryn sounded "just like that guy from that one episode of Black Books", i.e. the most comically seductive and manly voice imaginable.
I feel like half of his entire narrative and personality sprung up around this joke :')
My whole party and I always joke about Kita being an "idiot dog" and one time I made a comment on her probably dying if she ate chocolate or something.
So my DM decided that if I ever eat chocolate, alcohol, or anything else dog-dangerous, then I'll have to take a hit die. I.... deserve this LOL

Basically in an rp me and my girlfriend thought it would be funny if Pastel eats random stuff like shoes and hentai. I decided to make it canon that he does this
Well, during an rp with two other friends we did a 'wife-swap' scenario where our characters switched girlfriends between the three dudes. My friend and I started to ship it so we had our characters break up with their boyfriend/girlfriend and they got together xD Now they're married and my girl is pregnant :D
