jokes you made canon?

Posted 6 years, 2 months ago by Pearl zinnia

idk if it's just me, but are there any jokes about one of your characters you made canon? like, for example i made a lot of jokes about pearl being an uwu pastel blogger but then actually ended up putting that in her character because, why not

heck, a joke i had ended up fixing a plot hole regarding two characters so sometimes making fun of your characters .... works

Neerfein thedrowsydrow

Neerfein's obsession with the color pink started as a joke because I dyed his black ice armor in Neverwinter (where he started as a character) with some event dye set I'd gotten and the black ice parts looked pink-ish in most lighting. It ended up becoming one of his main character quirks lmao

 ❀ Kiel and Mordicai AsylumPatient

Brussel Sprouts are to Kiel what Garlic is supposed to be to Vampires.

Kelly Combes FellowPigeon

Kelly being a witch was originally a joke since she was known for being mysterious and strange but I liked the idea so much that I made her one

Macintosh Plus 420 lilac-obsidian

When i got this babe i thought i would name him fentanyl but thought macintosh plus 420 was a lot funnier

 626 Vice-Admiral Kulakov Ledokol

There was a joke from my own derpiness when I read the history of the actual Vice-Admiral Kulakov warship that the ship was 'mothballed' for years during the 90-early 2000's. Now being that English isn't my first language, somehow when I read 'mothballed', the image in my head went to that of caterpillar's cocoon.   So for sometime I usually thought of the ship during that period as 'being mummified'. Took a while before I finally realized what 'mothball' actually means.

So in the plot, I passed on this 'mummified' joke on Kulakov's younger brother, Tributs, who has a habit of frequently making stupid, almost borderline inappropriate jokes. Tributs often makes jokes about Kulakov's 'return from being mummified for decade' and gets Kulakov's smack on the head in return. Now this punishment from Kulakov is also a joke on its own. Google Translate often gave me an incorrect translation and translated 'Vice-Admiral Kulakov' to 'Admiral Fist' quite often. (Kulak = 'fist' in Russian) Therefore I made it part of his canon personality to utilize his fists as the primary choice of punishment on others.

Renigee

Mention of drugs

Not my character, but my friend's pony OC is now rumored to be a pot dealer because I said "is that the one who makes the magic powder' and she took it the wrong way

Renigee

And here's Francois Toast. A character ripped directly from one of my old MLP fanfictions. He is Rainbow Dash's ghost husband.

Valentino Walker SonieTheDog

Val is a flirt, but my group chat blew it wayyyy out of proportion.

Bit of background, his flirty nature came from the title of the submission advertising his adoption (it was "Flirty PlaneWalker adopt"). He started out as Bisexual, but then I decided Pansexual would work better. Then my group chat decided to ship him with a "pet rock" and "box of cereal" and I actually ended up drawing him on a date with a box of cereal XD

So Valentino turned into an Alien, who doesn't understand romance at all, and will flirt with literally anything at all. I've actually been able to use this personality trait really well~ It's part of the reason I like him so much!

Blake Blepsbian

Blake is a character in one of the first stories I ever wrote. I kinda gave characters traits at random without a cohesive theme and one of his traits was that he's just inexplicably worried about the world being taken over by so called Space Squirrels, so he tends to eye any squirrels in the garden with much suspicion.

Eventually, it turns out he was right and Space Squirrels do exist, however he never saw one himself. Space Squirrels are alien people that jump into other dimension to kidnap people in order to feed their blood to a machine that was the only thing that remained of the previous civilization on their planet and they had been very clear that this machine can never ever be allowed to run dry. No normal person would ever describe them as squirrel-like though, but the one who relayed his encounter to Blake wasn't someone reasonable.

So yeah, space squirrels turned out to be real but they also never played a role in the story Blake was in either, but in the sequel.

Nimue Jakande Cliodna

The whole character of Tatenda Jakande started out as a joke. I knew that Nimue had some relatives on her father's side and, over time, it sort of dawned on me that one of them is the most stereotypical mopey goth teen.

There was also a period in the roleplay when Nimue's powers were emerging and knowledge of her existence started to spread online, while going unacknowledged by mainstream sources. And then I, and my game master, sort of jokingly wondered, you know, what if her cousin was a conspiracy fan and learnt of the mysterious "Brighteyes" rather early on? Back then all that was known of her was the nickname, the healing hands, glowing eyes and that she was a black teen. So in that time period he could've become MASSIVELY interested in this real-life superhero. Chatboards, photo-hunting, even getting a tattoo of a black chick with laser eyes.

And just imagining his face when he wakes up one morning, opens the computer "HEY TENNA THEY FOUND OUT HER IDENTITY LOOK HERE THERE'S PICS AS WELL!" "...shit, that's my weird cousin."

Felix Ōno mithrou

for some reason i was looking up really stupid sexual shirts on the internet because i didn't know what to draw and then one skype conversation later it's canon that he basically owns any and every bad t-shirt you can think of.

not to mention "what if he was like, over a foot shorter than his boyfriend" started out as a joke and now he's literally 13 inches shorter than emil.
