💡 Why does your OC exist (in meta)?

Hi! A lot of us have OCs with fleshed-out backstories and complex personalities... but what was the first thing, the first trait you've come up to for them? What made you create this character? The answer can be as serious ("I wanted to create a character to share with my experiences with <event>") or silly ("I really like pasta so I've made a character who likes pasta") as you want!

Just have fun and please keep things civil ♥

Lee Fletcher nazzeroid

SO IK this isnt the question but I just wanted to provide more gut-spillage, Lee wasn't the first human OC I ever made. The original title belongs to my OC Sabrina, who I revamped forever ago to be part of my story WITH LEE, so something to chew on because I basically just made Alex Russo back then

And for Lee... Well. My first drawing ever of her was her blushing with writing in her hair (HE'S SO CUTE OMG PLS HELP ME AND MY SOUL) and I guess as Lee became more of a separate entity from me THAT trait was the first and it always stuck -- that Lee flusters very easily. It's a cute trait and I love her

NLG MechanicalHoundz

I wanted a "Narrator sona". I character who iz inherently me but just...a god. He started az literally me under a different name with funky powerz but now he haz SUCH complex lore and iz a funny furry boy.

 Aiken RedclayRockstar

OH OKAY SO the entirety of Corvids as a narrative project originated while i was playing around with story concepts i was inspired to mess around with due to my severe Writer Pinterest addiction at the time. I'd come up with a few weird plot points to work with, only with the idea to write about them briefly to get a better feel for writing and maintaining plot (look where that got me, Corvids is about three years old now and one of my primary projects).

Corvids was born when out of boredom i smashed two of those one-shot plot concepts together and tied the characters i'd written about into one universe. Aiken came from the idea of 'weird little sidekick guy nobody really cares out that much turns around and becomes the villain!!' and that hasn't changed all that much!

Daedalus chrromie

i like making insert characters for shows im hyperfixing on

LF $$$ = ART > TRADE (Vtuber) miu_3d

I've made her because I like vegetables. I've find them so cute and sexy (´◉◞౪◟◉)

So she is the personnification of this! She tranform people into cute and sexy vegetables for the fun of it |ω・)

Laurens flatworld

dont tell anyone but its because i was unhealthily obsessed with zeke yeager at the time and i wanted to make an oc that looked like him..... he doesnt look like zeke anymore (i hope)

WM AllseeingDaydream

I actually got WM as sort of a third wheel straight-man type of the dynamic between Senari and Roe, which is HILARIOUS to me in hindsight now.

I got them as an adopt i traded for, one of my first time trading for a design and getting a design i rlly like. I developed them bit by bit, thinking of them as a cheerful but snarky (...sassy) hunter to Senari's cooler temperament. Giving sarcastic little commentary to Senari and Roe's whole friends to enemies shtick.

And then,

And then i started reading this one fanfiction, Let The Devil In by Wyrvel, and my mind was BLOWN. I was like, seeing Izuna being an unhinged little motherfucker with Illnesses(tm) : Oh i need to GET ON THAT. And so i veered wildly to make WM the manic apathetic allergic-to-vulnerability BPD-haver they are now ^____^ <3

Somehow down the line they became the main character, still a third wheel (LOL) and still judge-y and sarcastic about it (HAHA) but the main character that the story revolve around, plus now there's Ceris.

So like, [Farquaad Pointing Meme] The Third Wheel Has Become The Main Character!

(I love them so much tbh.......)

Jean Duka AsthmaDaddy

Soooo the original author of James Bond made a character. Le Chiffre. Cool Villain, extremely fancy, epic scar over his eye, portrayed by my favorite actor Mads Mikkelsen. What he forgot to do is GIVE HIM ANY KIND OF BACKSTORY, or at least not enough to my liking. His entire being doesn't get explained.

So I snatched him and gave him purpose.

And now he's my main on everything always.

King Macleod / Mick danlion

I felt bad shipping RPF and didn't want to make RPF content so I made them faceclaimed characters instead. Mick became a furry because I felt it would make it too obvious who they were if he stayed human... then I went and made a human AU anyways and now I'm just owning this fact, so.

 Samuel SpoiledRottenMuffin

he was supposed to be my literal FURSONA

until i didn’t fit him anymore and he got remade to be just a mere mascot

aurae stxrfallen

i wanted a star motif dnd character lol

Mac Wingspan

Looking at all the other posts on here makes me realize how weird the way I make characters is lol. I like can’t get connected to a character unless I base them off of music in some way.

Literally with Mac and the other characters in his story (minus Dendley), I was so mad that this one music video was not a movie so I made characters based on it to cope. Okay, well- I liked the concept and thought to make characters as a funny little reference to it. Mac and Jack’s names are even derived from the Mac and Jack Wonder Potion they sell in the video, although it’s also just shortened versions of the real people’s names.

So yeah, the overall concept of these 4 characters in a country town scamming people and occasionally doing performances was taken from that but I did flesh it out by giving them all backstories and personalities, along with a larger story. They definitely still look like the people they’re each based on, though, lol. And I don’t try to hide it.
