💡 Why does your OC exist (in meta)?

Hi! A lot of us have OCs with fleshed-out backstories and complex personalities... but what was the first thing, the first trait you've come up to for them? What made you create this character? The answer can be as serious ("I wanted to create a character to share with my experiences with <event>") or silly ("I really like pasta so I've made a character who likes pasta") as you want!

Just have fun and please keep things civil ♥

His very first rendition was basically summarized as "overachieving/overworked older sibling watches naturally talented younger sibling get all the glory," because I wanted to use that trope but have the older sibling become a villain. And then I decided to completely scrap that idea and his original design, and now he's way cooler imo lol. New design was inspired by a very recent unicorn phase, because who doesn't like unicorns?

Ske TenMomentsTill

I wanted a character that looked like a vintage stuffed animal so I made him.

 Archon, the Exile ✰ Xedite

Personal trauma related to situations in my life and mental illness, mostly and processing some internal thoughts about things. A lot of my characters usually first stem from cool ideas I want to try out and tropes I want to play with, but very quickly assume a life of their own I go to write them along the way. It's always cool to see the end result, it's never always intentional how a lot of my character dev ends up.

Archon here was made out of a cool idea in a group rp a very long time ago that very quickly ended up shelved up until very recently for another RPG group. He's always been on the backburner of my mind since I've always thought the idea of an eldritch horror trying to fit in among humans was pretty cool, but especially so one that acts like one. I also liked the challenge of trying to write a character that couldn't be written by conventional means due to the limits of their powers and the very real danger their very existence posed to their story world, even if that's the original problem that got him shelved in the first place.

When I first conceptualized him, he was a sentient, world-eating plague. I say he's come a longer way now into being more human overall. :)

Saiph Atlas zidanetribal

literally stemmed out of a joke about eating daggers between me and a friend lord what have i done

Raen Qearene LiaC

She first came to my mind when I was watching "Bleach" with my little sister. It was when Yoruichi Shihōin and Soifon were fighting.

During that time I was developing a story and wanted a desert bandit? (I think she was originally going to be one) but overtime the entire concept changed, along with her personality. But the very bases of her character was inspired from that episode alone.

Valnier Reikslot ProfessionalDumbass

I love Saltzpyre from Vermintide
I wanted to be a bit more mean IC
And plus Warhammer
Also he's for a dnd-esque game

 Mauritius ornate day gecko Geiger

I decided i wanted a Mauritius ornate day gecko so I drew one lmao

💉 Phobos 💉 kyosaya

I jus wanted a persona but i didn't want it to be human so i rejected humanity and became alien spider

 Enigma FelisLicht

I had an idea about some kind of concept that I was deep in thought about, and when I took it to the extreme I ended up creating a character based on it. I felt like no one's ever done it before, and because only I know the secret thing of what they are, no one else can figure it out. It makes them very special to me.

Toronto 10key
