His lantern and tail bells
(Apologies if this thread have been created but why didn't I have ideas for threads when I still had my premium/search button lol)
So! One of my favorite part of a character design is them having a certain design trait or accessory (or just anything like hairstyle, clothing, item, etc) that are strongly associated with a character--they wear/hold them most of the time regardless of outfits, situations (or heck, you can spot it even if the character appears as a silhouette) or they absolutely have that as a part of their character and it's either rare or looks strange if they are seen without one? As one would say, well, their "signature" or "trademark" in a form of design.
Do share as many characters as you want here, I'd love to know! (Also feel free to share if the said design trait is just an extra addition to their design or have a certain story or reason to them)
Prime examples would be: Any form of hats, plushes, hair clips/necklace/bracelets, maybe the character is always seen with a ponytail? And many others
He ALWAYS wears orange/red/brown sweaters or warm clothing, and he always wears his collar, at least before his parents leave him and his siblings with the house when they retire.
My beloved girl and her hair ribbon! While Day doesn't look too odd without her scarz (she sometimez wearz makeup to cover them), she lookz almost....naked without her hair ribbon? It feelz just wrong to draw her without it.
Evelyn, Cappuccino, and Shade all look VERY strange without their glassez. Perhapz thiz iz simply bc they're such big sonaz of mine that seeing them without my glassez iz....weird? I have drawn them without glassez in specific scenarioz, however. Usually for comedic affect.
Lovegore without her necklace iz a crime against humanity. In canon it meanz a lot to her (long story short through a seriez of eventz it caused her to start dating her now-husband) so if she doesn't have it on it just makez me....sad?
Moonflower lookz wrong without their earring or horn band, and that makez sense! In canon they have protective spellz on them (the earring preventz them from being affected by th magic of otherz and their horn band allowz them to breathe underwater) so they literally never take them off.
Though recently it haz changed due to it getting torn during a fight, NLG used to wear a collar at all timez, only taking it off when they expected prolonged contact with water (they went swimming or took a shower or bath). I'm still getting used to drawing them without it :(
Wanle haz hiz hat and th man lookz bald without it.
Their cane never leaves their side! Not only is it their mobility aid but it also serves as their arcane focus, it's an integral aspect of their character.
Her tail’s hair is fused to form a sort of crown like shape hehe. So she basically has a crown at the tip of her tail.
Overall just has lots of crown and gold and a mix of royalcore/light academia in her design, plus shes a giraffe so-
after thinking on it, i think quite a few of my characters have traits i rarely go without!
hanni's bow always stays on him - mostly because it's technically not a bow? more like... flesh that feels like fabric <:)
tartarus always has their lanterns - and if possible, their staff! it's a big part of them, the lanterns are essentially the essence of souls he's guided to the afterlife; their memories, the experiences tartarus had while guiding them, etc. the essence/the lantern itself is called sollight in my world! yves is quite the same (i've yet to draw them officially whoops) but their sollight is red!
promise has his signature scarf! i rarely draw him without it, and when i do, it looks kind of weird haha. they wear it so that their sulfur vents are hidden, but they never really do a good job of it.
weak doesn't have a specific item associated with him, but i always draw his hooked nose (or at least, i try to) and his long face <3 i'm lowkey worried about commissioning art from someone of him because those features might not be well-translated in my reference, so i'll have to work on that haha
