Venus titters, his flytraps rising to the defensive in the presence of the intimidating man. Were he still human, he would have turned around and walked right away from that glint of hatred in Ark‘s eyes. He wasn’t human though, and he felt practically magnetized to the man. It’s the light, he realizes. Ark is light, the sun, and the chlorophyll in his body has a frightening amount of control over his body when it wants to. Venus sometimes thinks that he might be more plant than human.
“Tell meeee…” Venus says, resisting the urge to circle around Ark thoughtfully. “You can manipulate and erase memories… can you restore them?”
Venus narrows his eyes, flytraps snapping at the air. He’s no idiot, he can tell when he’s been outclassed, can see it in Arks body language and his eyes, knows that Ark could fold him into a pretzel if he really wanted to. But Venus is foolish, and it wouldn’t be the first time curiosity killed him.
He wonders what Ark would think, reaching into his mind to find a minefield of knowledge without memories to pair.
“Tell me, tell me…. are you a curious man like me?”
(CaeliGlori thank you!! I love your response, it made me have to think haha! i love tabitha too!)
Venus smiles vacantly, aware but unbothered of the scrutinizing eyes circling him. He’s more than used to being studied, and he loves the curious. His flytraps don’t share the same sentiment, but he just giggles as they snap.
He listens as she postulates and nods. Truthfully, he’d wondered that himself for a while, until he was able to piece together destroyed files that the original Tibera had left. He still didn’t know the intricate details, but he had a vague understanding.
“The suspended animation tube was designed to hold me alive for as long as I needed… no magic involved. The suspension solution contained pleenntyyy of water and nutrients that were recycled regularly.” He smiles sharply, and gestures to himself. “I did lose quiteee a bit of weight, though, hence the belt…” he cackles. “If the water pipes had burst while I was sleep I’d be dead as a rock! I’m a veryyyy lucky ducky.”
She looks him square in the eye, and he can’t help but square his shoulders. The woman commanded respect.
He understands where she comes from- he thinks, he’s familiar with people who want nothing more than to forget. But it wasn’t his choice, not really. It was a mistake, one that he’s not grateful for, but not exactly angry about. He doesn’t know what he’s missing, after all.
”Good luck, hehe…. You’re closer to figuring out the whole universe stuff than I ever was…”
