Kirke has a high interest towards facts and learning new things, gaining new knowledge about everything, even the tiny facts. although Kirke dislikes boring things, he gets very impressed with simple things that he had never seen before.

The little 'blob' that Bates has on his hat is actually a small spirit gifted to him by his 'father'. This smiling being is a ghost that is meant to serve as a 'guardian angel' to the Bates. Out of the many ghosts he has, Bates very much cherished this small ghost.

I could see him rather enjoying the stars, as an extension of his love of light. Possibly a reminder that even during hard times there is always a light somewhere.

In terms of Pokemon, not much can really scare Sequoia. Heck, he'd probably try to pet even the scariest of Pokemon. Typically though, he's rather jumpy and tends to get scared rather easily if he's without his Pokemon. So long as he has a Pokemon with him, he's generally alright. Even if said Pokemon can't really do much in the situation.
