Give a Pokemon Team to the Character Above you

Posted 7 years, 5 months ago (Edited 6 years, 10 months ago) by NoLongerInUse

This game is similair to the Choose a Pokémon for the character above you! thread. However, instead of choosing one pokemon that seems to suit their looks/personality, you create a team~! You can stick to one type or choose several based on color alone. It's all up to you.
Here are the links to the 3D Sprites (Sun/Moon | Shiny) (Alpha Saphirre/Omega Ruby | Shiny) (X/Y |Shiny)

For example, let's say the first post is for Albine

Post 2: What about Air Time?

Post 3:What about Buibui?

And it continues from there.

Ok this sounds wierd but his design reminds me of Reinhardt from Fire Emblem, and I associate him from Zebstrika so I’d like to give him a zebstrika. For his fear of dogs, I’m giving him Incineroar because it’s a burly cat that will protect him from dogs. Then Glaile since it freezes the air around itself because he can’t deal with heat. Komala since he’s Australian (plus it calms him down when his ptsd flares up.) and finally Lapras since it’s a good swimmer that will protect him from drowning and is a water/ice type.

For the person below me, don’t look st her Pokémon Au and no shiny staraptors since I get that often

Litten is a very solitary, stoic Pokemon, so I think one would make a good starter due to their similar personalities; they wouldn't get in each other's way, and I think that would in turn make a stronger bond, especially with one as a starter. Absol predicts disasters, so it seems like a great Pokemon to aid his interest in and research about bad timelines, and its harsh home environment seems like a great place for Silas to have taken time to himself; maybe that's how they met?  I'd also like to put an ice type on his team, since it could assist in food storage, as well as balances out the types somewhat; I think-- since Cloyster is a bit of a hunter and has all that spiky armor, it seems like a good fit!

But Weavile is known for stealth, which matches his fighting style, so two ice types can't hurt, right? Since he's a very practical person, I also think that Pokemon known for their work / abilities outside of combat would suit him pretty well, and a Rotom's transformation and possession abilities seem especially practical to me! Finally, a Castform for his climatologist background; climate isn't weather, but I can't help but think that if he lived in a universe with Pokemon in it, these guys might hang around.

v I love this list and your reasoning, especially the idea of Altaria being his star and the Zoroark being such a contrast to him!

Endrit's first pokemon is going to be an Altaria! Altaria's got an elegant look to it, slender and soft. Looks very polite. I think it would be funny for Endrit to have to put up with such an affectionate little bird, since it's very sociable and unable to be swayed easily. I think he would also like to listen to its song, and it's something that helps him to sleep at night. Better yet, it starts out as a little bird. Bonus points: It's his star pokemon + maybe it mega evolves?

Second, I'm going to give him a Fearow. He likes sparrows, and since Fearow evolves from... a very annoying sparrow... Also, Fearow strikes me as the kind of pokemon to lend to his bloodthirsty nature. It has a sharp, pointed beak and just as sharp talons. Referencing his teeth, maybe?

Third, it's another flying-type, I am so sorry, but I'm gonna give him a Honchkrow! Honchkrow kind of fuses both Altaria and Fearow together here. It's a pokemon that looks both polite and dangerous. It never forgives, and is known to be quite ruthless and charismatic enough to lead a flock of Murkrow. Also, it's... a bird that likes to go out at night.

Fourth, and it's A SECOND DARK-TYPE, but I'm also going to give him a Zoroark! I felt like Endrit would need another empathetic pokemon, and though Zoroark doesn't look like it, it lives in groups and values unity. It's extremely protective of its group and holds grudges on those who harm them.

Fifth, and this one is probably out there, but it's fine, it's cool. I'm gonna give Endrit a Raichu. There's a really old Pokemon theory about a war having broke out before the events of the very first game, as supported by the third gym leader, Lt. Surge, who fought in it. He was saved by electric types, and since Endrit is fighting in a war, and since Raichu is Lt. Surge's star... Raichu is also a pokemon that will become aggressive if it stores too much electricity, and while Endrit isn't the kind to go on rampages... He might have to deal with this one having a tantrum every now and then.

Sixth, I'm gonna give Endrit a Mienshao. This is definitely based on his design, but it's also a respectful pokemon, and it's one that he could use in battle training for himself. Despite being a fighting-type, too, it strikes me as the kind to be slow to anger, and usually keeps to itself.

vv i'm LOVING this list u_u especially since omanyte is my favorite fossil pokemon, and mandibuzz is also one of my fave flying-types, but i am not maribelle, alas...

i also really dig the idea of one of her dads giving her the hoppip and surskit [prior to evolving them] as a gift....... and the mandibuzz being the first she caught on her own

M. Pourife (Human) kafkaesque

Maribelle strikes me as the type of trainer who keeps her Pokemon as companions, yet at the same time they're like her... guardians in a way?? especially given the dangers involved in her world, a decent amount of them would be oriented to putting up a fight in case things went south. kinda like guard dogs but... not literally because of her phobia of dogs lmao. also ik I've replied to her in similar threads before, so I tried not to use those Pokemon for the sake of variety dueyfceyuc-

mandibuzz.gifmasquerain.gifomanyte.gifgastrodon.gifskiploom.gifjellicent.gif

reasoning in the spoilers box because I ramble a lot...

given Maribelle's liking for animal bones, Mandibuzz was literally the first Pokemon that came into mind haha. sure, the bones they tend to collect tend to be for fairly selfish purposes, but... at the same time, the idea of her Mandibuzz sharing bones and other trinkets with Maribelle due to them having a strong bond is Good Shit(tm). helps that Mandibuzz is also a fairly bulky Pokemon that can take hits, as I don't see Maribelle's team being particularly offense-based. if anything, they're likely meant to be tanks, and Manidbuzz exemplifies that perfectly.

Masquerain also came into mind as she likes rain and bugs, so... why not combine the two into one Pokemon?? admittedly, Masquerain would be like. the total opposite of Maribelle when it comes to rain (hiding somewhere until the rain subsides), but it does have a built-in "rain sensor" that she'd definitely find useful, or at least interesting. too bad she'd use it in a way that'd probably make it think "the fuck???" dsjfghvsdfhgv- plus, apparently it's a bit of a Scary Bug due to those eyes, which can definitely be helpful as a warning sign when Maribelle is feeling wary but doesn't want to actually fight.

admittedly, Omanyte is... out there, but... since she collects items, maybe one of the items Maribelle collected was a fossil, and... Omanyte was revived from it. it was probably an accident, but she keeps it on her team anyways and probably intends to evolve it at some point. the high level requirement is definitely a bit annoying though. (speaking of levels, don't even ASK how she managed to evolve Mandibuzz from Vullaby, assuming that she got it as the latter.) there isn't much insight given into Omanyte's biology, but I can definitely see its shell sort of being a metaphor for Maribelle's more reserved and guarded personality??

admittedly Gastrodon has a similar line of reasoning to the Omanyte: funky sea creature that Maribelle likes because it can utilize the rain nicely. yes, I see her being one of those people who lean towards Rain Dance-based teams because why the hell not. it's not nearly as aggressive as Maribelle expects, as it literally flees when it gets attacked. fun times. she probably wouldn't use it too much in battle as a result, but if she does, it's more of a support that sets up Rain Dance and other obnoxious status moves for the rest of her team lmao-

Skiploom is arguably like. the least competitive out of Maribelle's team, and there's a good chance she'd just keep it as a companion. it literally just exists to be cute and be associated with flowers, which I'm sure she'd appreciate, but... that's kind of it. she probably gets a lot of shit for having such a weak Pokemon on her arsenal, but it most likely holds too much sentimental attachment for her to really switch to a different, stronger member. she also probably happens to like having it out the most when she's reading and needs something to pet.

Jellicent is sort of a shoutout to Maribelle's interest in mystery and horror, at least in books. she probably read about it in a book and thought it was cool, so... *jazz hands* spooky jelly that's probably more than a bit ominous?? works fine with her. on a more meta note (since it's not like she's aware of this in canon), it could be seen as a reference to Maribelle's inclusion of jellyfish DNA in her. (I actually didn't notice this when I first thought of it, but in retrospect, it... works.) plus, given her somewhat gloomy personality, Maribelle definitely would have at least one (1) Ghost type in her team. the jelly just happened to be that special ghostie ig.

@ NP: try not to include members of the Magnemite or Croagunk lines in your response, as it's explicitly mentioned in his bio that he likes those Pokemon. I wanna see what you can come up based on the other aspects of his profile!! ^^

Koi Mercenary_Ike

His high charisma and mustache remind me of Mr Rime and his intellect reminds me of Alakazam. And Porygon to bridge the gap between common man and research. Also he likes poison and electric types? Toxel is both.

For the person below me, please don't look at her Pokemon au tab or suggest Shiny Staraptor. I do like it, she gets compared with it too often.

Haha, this was fun. :>
Reasonings below!

edit: ty ty for the very good team! :D

Incineroar - Since Koi loves playing Smash with her bf a lot, I imagine she's seen a lot of Incineroar! He's edgy, but cool, and a real powerhouse so I imagine she'd like him.
Chatot - Koi likes singing and humming, so why not a Chatot to harmonize with?
Furfrou - They can get their hair dyed together!
Castform - Castform can use Rainy Day to give her a nice, calming rainstorm to listen to whenever she wants. Doubles as a nice walking companion on a foggy day.
Kirlia - Feel like dancing? Kirlia is the perfect partner! Also as an empath Pokemon, Kirlia is a good shoulder to lean on on a bad day.
Munna - Munna is friend shaped. LOL but really, it's a very sweet Pokemon and can eat up bad dreams, even erase them from memory. Which is very nice of it.

and, reasoning in spoiler!!

Clefairy: Fits the aesthetic but mostly because I associate them with space which fits with her hero name.

Hitmonchan: She is a boxer so I had to go with Hitmonchan

Ampharos: I wanted an electric type because her powers seemed atleast adjacent and I went with Ampahros because (i love them) because they both have buns!

Munchlax: I thought munchlax would be cute on the team because Alice likes to cook but makes too much, so Munchlax could eat the extra!

Joltik: I couldn't shake the image having Joltik ride along as a hairclip!! since she loves hairclips and joltik is so smol ;v;

Edlegoss because of her favorite flower!!

Natsucci

Okay so explanation. I wanted to avoid making a team full of dragon and fire types because I felt that be a bit too on the nose- so I chose pokemon based off Beck's physical characteristics, personality, and general story. I hope you like it Natsu!<3

I chose Haxorus, Bisharp, and Rhydon based on Beck's dragon form. Her horns immediately made me think of Haxorus/Bisharp. I also thought the typing suited her. But I thought of Rhydon while reading the description of her physical appearance, where her dragon form is described as heavily armored and built like a rhinoceros.

I picked the Noctowl to represent her pet owl, Plum.

Tyranitar was picked because of it's fierce, protective nature and because it's described as preferring mountains for homes. It made me think of where Beck was born and grew up, but I also thought it was a great match for her personality.

Lastly I chose Blaziken because she's a fire dragon who loves fighting and likes birds so I thought it was the perfect pokemon for her<3

Koi Mercenary_Ike
  • She reminds me of Camilla from FE, and I associate her with a Shiny Gourgeist
  • Giving to charity reminds me of Delibird, plus it's shiny is purple.
  • Her inner turmoil reminds me of Mimikyu because it looks like everything is fine on the outside but nothing's fine on the inside, plus gray shiny
  • Cosmic Pokemon? Cosmoem, plus it fits her aesthetic.
  • Hoopa makes a bunch of portals with space in them, plus it's pink and purple
  • Finally to round off her team, I'm suggesting Gardevoir for the appearance, since she models a lot

778-Mimikyu.png303.png354-Banette.pngphantump.jpg840.png677Espurr.png

explainations under cut

okay so Koi has a really nebulous/unstable, melancholy(yet still hopeful, prone to daydream) feel to her so that meshes super well with ghost & fairy types.

Mimikyu just very insecure, wants to be loved and so scared to actually let anyone see the real them out of fear of scaring them away.  The reasoning was similar for mawile(hiding behind a smile but at the same time viciously clinging to whatever it can get).  Banette and Phantump are just more abandonment issues.  Espurr just.  I have no coherent reasoning for espurr it just feels right.  And of course Applin she caught to give to a love interest but she is so shy it never happened and she got super attached.

BONUS: Hoopa.  this mf is in so many AUs.  Sometimes it pulls alternated hers through & it's very weird

vvv THOSE ARE ACTUALLY SOME P SWEET PICKS!!  I wouldn't have thought to associate him with most of those but they fit!!
