Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Erandia

Lemonburgers

jfc u know my taste in music quite well aadjsdhfkgh I might try to find an OC fit for this song because I SWEAR I PROBABLY HAVE ONE AAAAAAAAAA

Speaking of character themes, Invincible - No Use for a Name is pretty much Allen, one of my OC's, theme in general lmaooo it's one of my top faves because hnnnnn so much of Allen's backstory and feelings are described in that song jahsdkbjfkgj

Erandia OK I GOT KINDA SAD READING COMMENTS I'M JUST NEW TO THIS BAND BUT SHSJAJKD

kinda hope the voices were as overwhelming as the instrumental since i could hardly recognize the lyrics, but not gonna lie this is a cool song!!

Kanako Itou - Shoes of Glass(this has english subs dw)

This is a pretty old song, though it feels really fresh to listen to it, it even inspired me to build my current story in wip Thalassia and me of my main OCs, Damien!

or an alternative, As If Saying Bye-Bye by Koyori ft. Soraru- english translation here

here's one of my favorite songs hjdfnkj https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVDu1ooVEk0

Gyrwolf

Honestly I found that song really soothing to listen to?? It was nice!

I'll leave this song. I've quite liked it for several years now. https://youtu.be/BCkfTCjF8SM

Narciso

I have a pretty eclectic taste, and i don't think i would've found that by myself but i quite enjoyed it! It's got really nice lyrics and is rlly memorable. + big plus because i'm really into nautical things so you got me right out intrigued with the title

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e8Wwp_jH8s A friend shared this with me in class once and boy howdy has it become of of my favorites ( wait it out to the chorus, but the lyrics and the beat are mmmmMMMMMM lovely too )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hDZtHqtaTw this also is just very sweet

FellowPigeon

Send them Off is definitely one of my favourites from Bastille but I hadn't heard of the second one before

how about a song that shares the title with another Bastille song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zpb1gJyMKIs

Got skipped there, never mind...

Kattenkvvaad

(about Send Them Off by Bastille) oooooooo this sounds nice, I might add this to my own playlist.

I'm just going with one of my probably all-time fave songs here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sesKiKYQn84

Aarix

Ooo this is interesting! I haven't even heard this band before actually haha
I like the energy in the verses; also the singer has an interesting kinda voice which I really appreciate :v

Here's a song from me (probably a bit less trashy than my usual tastes haha) [Purity Ring - Asido]

Gumdreary

I’ve never heard of this band before but I’d definitley like to check out more of their stuff. I really enjoyed the song, I found it both soothing and catchy at the same time. I also loved the video, the animation was great and it did a good job illustrating the lyrics/mood of the song (unlike some music videos which seem to be just unrelated images).

Here’s an older song that I personally use to calm myself down when I’m feeling upset (more to do with the overall sound of the song than the lyrics): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2yUN6CsuVPw

I did not realize my day today needed more Peter Gabriel. Thank you for setting me aright *w*

I contribute: Unicorn - Apoptygma Berserk. I was really into this band a while back, and I just kinda rediscovered them last week. I also really love Moment of Tranquility - so peaceful and sad ;;

colorful

I love the grunge dialogue at the intro of Moment of Tranquility! I love the vocals, but the instrumentals--- I kind of feel odd about that but it's growing in me

BUT HOLY HECK ABOUT UNICORN THO, IT'S TOTALLY SO GOOD FOR MY EARS?? The lyrics only looped, but I love how he sang it so I don't mind it dw-- I love the grunge effect here, too!! I can't get his voice and the instrumentals outta my mind here AAAA

I'm going to offer songs that are English but sung by Japanese singers, because I really love them haha

let's say, how about Why, or Why Not by Rekka Katakiri! The lyrics helped me do Damien's and Lester's bios for me ehe

However, if you want Alternative Rock, I offer Out of Control! But instead of Lady Gaga ft. Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea, it's by my favorite band, Nothing's Carved on Stone! I'm so in love with Nothing's Carved on Stone oh god...
