General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 8 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

I don't know if I should make a proper PSA for this or what.
But I've encountered an issue with the user Skullkin trying to resell characters that were traded to them.

I traded designs with them a while ago, exchanging them an anthro rabbit design by Lagena for an anthro design that they had. I had been originally traded the anthro rabbit design myself and the ownership page rights were specifically set to reflect that the design could be retraded and regifted but not resold. I noticed today though that the design was pending a sale to another user and I commented on the page to notify them that the character could not be resold, only traded. My comment was deleted. So I reposted my comment and Skullkin responded claiming that because I did not specifically tell them that it couldn't be resold, that they had the right to resell it. They claimed that they had a right to resell any design they owned. I remember an issue similar to this popping up in the past with someone having their own TOS for trades to give themself the ability to resell anything.

So I guess this is a small PSA to watch out for Skullkin who will resell designs that you trade to them, whether they are allowed for resell or not.

Character Ownership Page That clearly shows that resales are not allowed.

It was at this point in the conversation that they blocked me.

Sorry if this post is messy, still a bit out of it on medications from my c-section.

I'll go ahead with another note then and see where things go. Thanks for the advice!

I agree with Kye. If the person is selling stuff that are only allowed to be traded, they are breaking rules. It would be good to get in touch with the artist of the design. D:

Some adopt artists DO allow you to sell off designs you've gotten in trades, but they're not in the majority. For the most part, if you received a design via a trade, you can only trade it, or possibly, voucher it. Not resell it. When in doubt, always go and look at the adopt artist's TOS of course. But yea, generally speaking, most designs received via trades are not resellable.

Kazeun You're welcome! Good luck.

Skullkin has since deleted the character Candyghouls traded them, left off the original artist and is now putting themselves down as the artist of all of the art on the character.  The ownership page now reads that they can gift, trade or resell the character.

I've linked the original and re-uploaded pages.  I've since reported the re-upload to the admins.  Please note there are nsfw images on the pages as I've left them unedited.

I will go post a proper public PSA then right now given the actions Skullkin has taken since I posted this. Once I have I will edit this post with a link.

Public PSA link about someone selling/trading freebies that clearly state not to : https://toyhou.se/~forums/5867.service-reviews/81416.psa-cydric-selling-trading-freebies?page=0 I am hoping I did all this correctly as this is a first for me. IF anyone sees anything that may need to be changed please let me know ^^;

If they accepted your money knowing they were going to be having wrist surgery, and then never got back to you about the status of your commission or even bothered to read your messages, it's pretty reasonable to issue a chargeback. It's not really that hard to post an update or status once in awhile to keep buyers informed when issues like that come up, and if they knew beforehand that's...worse. Things of course, do happen, so, giving them the benefit of the doubt:

I would try again one more time and label the message "Chargeback" or something just as likely to get their attention immediately, in case they're avoiding talking to you, and explain that if they don't start responding or work something out with you that you will go through with it.

(Alternatively, you should maybe try asking other people who have ordered from them if they've heard any word? It might be that they're dealing with something and have been unable to be online - it would be good to know if this is a case of them avoiding you, or actually being absent entirely.)

So, someone is trying to sell/trade a freebie I gave them. A month ago I told them to remove this character from 'up for offers' and they ignored my message entirely. They were last online four days ago and I demanded that they return the character back to me, for ignoring me and my TOS. They have yet to reply or comply at all. What should I do? I'm don't want to have to make a PSA, but... I don't know.

CosmicJellie from what I've seen i think i'm the only one they've done this to, although having other designs up for offers. i might make an artist beware for them.
